- Crimsom color.

Must have been an awfully nice shade of "crimsom" to get that 93!

A crimsom color wheel challenge would demonstrate how little attention is paid to color shades.

This was awful. Who would want a creamy, minerally, saline, textural mouth-bomb? My mistake for buying it, please don't. Thanks!

I own a bottle. Is it evoluting in a good or bad direction? Might I hope for 81pts?

Is aftertaste a synonym for grammar and punctuation?

By virtue of "likes this wine," hopefully evoluting in a good direction?

Not as good as I expected.

Probably a typo but if not, this taster has high standards!

Saturday, October 21, 2023 - 40th anniversary tasting (L'Esprit du Vin - Axelborg): My notes from this fantastic gigantic tasting are in general extremely short (because of the many wines) but with ratings. We spent a whole day tasting and tasting quality wines.

This wine: No notes taken.

It would have been less effort to tell me something about the wine instead of the explanation of why there's no note

Interesting but not very helpful tasting note for a 2008 Cavallotto Barolo Riserva Vignolo:

Likely too early to have drank.also, it was a 2006 not a 2008

I can't stand it when someone posts a note like this and doesn't accept comments.

4/28/2024 - VINOBAY WROTE: 79 points
No need to decant — almost zero dregs in the bottle. Cork had only 1/4” of coloring, with crystals sealing the wine from 18 years of cellaring. Nose of cassis, herbs, and leather, layered deep dark color, no signs of tawny edges. Aged perfectly! Blended fruit, acidity, and tannins gives it a very smooth, clean finish. One word - Amazing!

Red
2000 Château Pontet-Canet Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend
5/10/2024 - XXX LIKES THIS WINE: 97 points
On P&P, I was immediately accosted by that heady "old wine barrel in a cave" scent that to me is what secondary flavors and scents are all about in the best Cabernet based wines, with serious but lovely cow sh*t perfume. I view cow shi*t as the midpoint between the acridity of pig sh*t and the weedy scent of horse shi*t. [As an aside, I like the horse sh*t end of the **** spectrum, but still prefer the middle point of cow sh*t. I don't dig the pig sh*t stank, personally, but I don't view myself as an expert sh*t-sniffer, so my opinions may be sh*t.] So the nose was just effusive, yet there was nothing suggesting the wine was too ripe/overly extracted/too alcoholic/oxidized. The first sip was magical, and it rapidly got better over the hour it lasted. The palate was akin to the brambly St. Juliens I've loved most, crossed with the big boy Pauillacs that get the big scores. On the top, I got beautiful medium cigar box and light cedar, and with time, the copious cassis notes were stunning. Lots of dark, damp earth and surprisingly fresh, deep dark fruit, with minimal residual sweetness. This to me is an outstanding Bordeaux that’s in the middle of its prime drinking window. It speaks to what makes Bordeaux the king of French wines and one of the greatest wine regions in the world

I'd have to agree: It is good sh*t!

Posting my own notes! Ridicule away!

I'm in the habit of grabbing bottles without looking at cellartracker, then drinking and scoring "blind" to any previous tasting notes or scores, including my own. I had 2 bottles of this one, 2012 Underground Wine Project, Idle Hands. https://www.cellartracker.com/wine.asp?iWine=1852706

I found it interesting that my 2 notes, 8 years apart, while still a big dark brooding wine, showed so differently 8+ years later. When I said to leave it alone in 2016, I meant it! :) Maybe I should look for more of this type of history in wines in my cellar that are likely now in a better drinking window than 10+ years ago.

Solid and still long life ahead. Dark and brooding until it opened up after about an hour. Dense black and blue fruits, heavy weight, and fully integrated tannins. Give it plenty of air, and on hindsight this would be a good candidate for a Vinturi or other aeration device.

Massive wall of fruit and tannin. Really needs to be left alone for a few more years in hopes it will become a bit more approachable. Nothing subtle here and not really my style for a Syrah dominated wine.

Sounds like you enjoyed it young in your first note but 8 years later it's not really your style, palate has changed. I hate when that happens

Opposite. I liked it a lot better 8 years later.

I will say I am still a bit confused as to the blend in this wine. Recent vintages are Cab/Merlot, but I thought it had Syrah in earlier vintages. I don't have any left, and am not to buy more regardless, but it always helps when a label includes the grapes in the wine, this label is silent on that.

I see something like this quite often regarding vintage ports: not much experience but still rating them even though dessert wines are not their thing.

Dark fruits like Blackberry and black cherry. Nice finish. A wine to enjoy!

My first thought was, "Well, no sh*t..." and, even though I kind of know what they meant to convey, it still made me chuckle. "No, I usually buy and drink wines that I don't enjoy."
