  • Lovely vibrant fruit, and tasting just right. I really enjoy this. Calvert is lovely wine, and certainly in more recent years it is my favourite Felton wine. 2010 is a really nice vintage. Yum yum.

  • Gotta be honest and even out of a Magnum (Screwcap) this wine did not impress me. It has nice enough fruit, perhaps a little stewed but what detracts for me is the smoky charry influence of what I associate with high toast or burnt re-use barrels that have not been well scraped out. If this is a style Felton Road want then count me out. If this was unintended then its careless. Another in my group thought this tasted of outright rubber and is nasty (he's sensitive but still). So this wine was not enjoyable for us, especially in a lineup of other clean Pinots that night it was by far the "worst".

  • Has come out of a dumb phase, now well balanced fruit driven but with a leaner structure than thw Cornish Point bit of earth and faint terriary notes. Very good.

  • Dark brick, crimson color. Some signs of age. Very clean and concentrated for a Pinot. Powerful nose of sweet cherry, a bit candied. Some smoke and tertiary notes. On the palate, very fruit forward, ripe cherry and red fruits. Good acidity but not overwhelming. Balanced. Solid NZ Pinot. More Burgundian than most new world pinots. Long clean finish that last a while. A bit hot. High alcohol (14.0%).

  • Yes, overripe cherry and plum is what I get, too. Overextracted for my palate, with some obvious acidulation sticking out. OK, but no better, and certainly far from the best example of Pinot Noir that I've had from NZ.
