Opened, but not decanted for about an hour before pouring, as part of a Napa Cabernet night at a steakhouse with my wine group. Good spice notes, lively fruit, medium bodied and a medium-long finish. Very enjoyable. Just a hair behind the 2 favorites (2005 Dunn Napa and 2012 O'Shaughnessy Howell).

Popped 'n poured at a NYC restaurant. This started out overwhelmingly fruit driven. But after about 30 minutes, it leveled out and became somewhat elegant. I've rarely been able to wait very long on this wine, so this was older than most bottles that I have tried. It was worth the wait!

Really nice wine. Smooth, balanced, and not hot or overdone like some prior vintages (eg, 2007). Nothing really stood out, which came across as lacking some needed complexity. Glad I have a couple more bottles - and no reason not to drink up now.

This is interesting. It's "only" 9 years old, but a lot of that delicious Lewelling fruit has faded. I'm getting a lot of tobacco, dark chocolate and an ever-so-slight hint of balsamic. On the palate, the sweet dark fruit is more pronounced with some tarry/petrol hints and nice acidity with some still-firm tannins. Definitely a step below what I was expecting from this wine, but still delicious... As always. Grade: A-

Peppermint on the nose....decent balance with limited air. Chocolate and cherries. Long finish. Should get slightly better with some air.
