What luck to have Andy Chabot select this wine tonight. It was in great condition. Maybe a cm low on the fill but great provenance. Unfiltered Pinot look, but bright cherry red color and great texture. I little crunchy but still ample fruit to go along with tertiary spice and sou bois. Some asian characteristics. Decent finish and nice improvement as it sat out. Highly recommended and a fun piece of history to share.

Tawny in colour. Pronounced nose intensity with no fruits notes. Caramel, orange peel, toast, cinnamon. Medium+ acidity. Medium- tannin. Sherry like taste.

Holiday Burgundy Lunch: Served blind. The tasting note I jotted down was too salacious to publish here. Suffice it to say this has a compelling combination of juicy fruit, sous bois, and rose petals. A fantastic wine.

Tony's 60th Birthday Celebration (Republique - Los Angeles CA): Last bottle from a case purchased almost 20 years ago. This was one of the less perfect bottles, with a slightly plastic note on the nose in between floral, mature red & black cherry, black truffle, and cooked mushroom notes. Similar flavors but without that odd note, coming across as beautifully mature, layered, well spiced, and so elegant. Still plenty of structure, this improved noticeably when enjoyed with food.

From the same lot as my prior bottle, though the ullage was 4cm… cork fully soaked through. Not dead but clearly in the denouement stage
