Decanted for 30 minutes, Given it was a magnum, should have given it a little more time. Initially fairly closed and light. After another 30 minutes really opened up. A little light for a Walt pinot, but big for an Oregon (as opposed to California). Lots of red fruit (strawberry and cherry) with moderate tannin and acid. Big mouth feel and long finish.

Really yummy! It starts off with red cherries, blackberries, white pepper and maybe sage nose. The palate is red cherries, currant and blueberry that brings on a mineral and heavily smoky finish. The smoke got a little overwhelmimg after a while but it went fabulous with a well aged gouda and finochionna sausage, so we enjoyed the entire bottle that way. I have 2 more WALT bottles from 15 and 16 from different vinyards. I'll probably drink them sooner based on this 2014 bottle.

Popped and poured at a local restaurant. Consumed following a 2016 Gary Farrell Russian River Pinot. The Farrell was edgy, tart and acidic and barely consumable, even with food. The Walt on the other hand, was smooth and balanced and a joy to drink in comparison.

Fabulous! But, letting it breath really helped (still).

Perfect balance between fruit and tertiary notes.
