Textbook Napa Cab, very classically styled, with interplay between black currant and bell pepper; amped up with maybe a little more alcohol than fits a classic description. I appreciate the sensibility here — nothing’s overdone or over-stylized. It’s fair and honest.

Vinturied into a decanter and let sit for 45 minutes. Medium+ ruby-purple in colour. Nose of cherries, cocoa, bits of spice, and wet tobacco. On the palate, there are dried red cherries, with some plums and a touch of black olives are noted; some tannins are noticed. Medium bodied with a medium+ finish. Served with bacon wrapped fillet mignon.

Very Nealesque- 8 years and still has many years left. A bit sweeter than most of Mark’s wines. A lot of fruit upfront and great mouthfeel, but a bit of a short finish. Overall a very easy drinking and enjoyable wine.
