Un préféré de Pascale. Beaucoup de fruits à chaire jaune, beurré, un peu de maïs jaune. Un petit peu de chauffe en milieu de bouche qui s’estompe avec aération, énormément de corps et d’amplitude.

Lovely wine, with a beautiful balance of flavors. Savory texture; crisp, fresh, lean apples, peach fruits. Great minerality that just keeps the wine coming. There is a toastiness present in the background, but it just adds accents to a very balanced wine.

After yesterday debacle, I did what I said I would do; “Shake off that disappointment and get in there and try again.”
I’m not letting the universe treat me like some unlucky wineau, err, wine connoisseur. With a foray of wines in my cellar, I can forgo the universe, or actually the wine distribution channels, and choose a wine that will bring me great joy and satisfaction. There, take that universe….
Being it was time for my weekly (at least) consumption of salmon for dinner, and the fact that it was on sale today at my favorite grocery store, it was an easy choice to come up with a superb wine that went dashingly well with the dinner I had arranged. Salmon over a bed of Rice with Asparagus and a Lemon Sauce that rocked. Now, coincidentally, I was at a small wine tasting this last weekend that was featuring a few wines from Hartford Court. I went specifically because I wanted to see which Chardonnays they might be pouring. Walking away with one of their single vineyard wines, the “Four Hearts Vineyards” Russian River Chardonnay 2017.
Wait….that wasn’t the wine I opened for dinner, well not exactly. I opened the 2015 vintage I grabbed when my luck was running at high-gear a while back. Did a post on my good fortune that was two and a half years ago. Today the wine was still as lush and full-bodied as it was those many months ago. A masterpiece of winemaking and enjoyability.
Rather than rehash my previous review, I’ll just tell you how much I savored the return experience. I would also point out that at the recent tasting, I bought 2017 based on not only the previous vintage (both the 2015 and 2017 scores 96 points from a well-known wine reviewer) but on the wonderful wine I tasted from the same Single Vineyard for 2017. Still selling at around $40 a bottle, this is a wine of immense enjoyment, especially if you like your Chardonnays a little creamier and, due to 100% malo on the wine, softer but rich in flavor as well. With a little over 1,700 cases produced, it may be a little tricky to obtain, but a search for it will yield you with enjoyment many times over.
A perfect wine for the meal if I must say so and it also lifted me from my disappointment from my incident the other day! What more could I ask for?
Cheers
