This was a bit of a lightweight for a 1er Cru. Lighter red color, tart red fruit, earthy - almost mushroom notes, minor spice. Very few tannins at this point, decent finish, and would not wait any longer to drink this wine.

Pop and pour. This evolved beautifully over 2.5 hours with brambly earth, nutty tart red fruit, lovely fine-grained tannins, long finish of herbed acid and dried fruit and nuts. Very enjoyable.

Marchand-Tawse Wines with Thomas Dinel; 2/28/2019-3/3/2019 (Arlequin Wine Merchant and SF Wine Trading Company, San Francisco): A bit lighter color than the Rue de Vergy. Less stemmy, fragrant, and cool. Light weight, more soil than the Vergy. Berry and citrus, spice, and resin. Finer, less aggressive wood tannins as well. Needs 3 to 5 years of aging. Hardly spectacular but the best wine today.

Patrick Piuze Chablis and Marchand-Tawse Reds (San Francisco Wine Trading Company): Pale red. Fragrant pine needles and blueberry. Light to medium weight, lightly sappy. A touch of wood and soil, excellent acidity, grainy tannins, and a strong citric end note. Already has lots of interest, good potential going forward.
