I must be perfectly transparent here. Petite Sirah is not one of my favorites. Just like Petite Verdot, I prefer it as a blending grape as it can seem dense, tannic, and one dimensional. However, when you have wine making of this amazingly high quality, you can’t help but to enjoy a delectable wine, which this is. Bramble berry, blueberry, dried tar and flower shop. A medium-long finish and great concentration, yet there is still some lift. Microfiber tannins. Within its drinking window, this will age for at least another ten years. Drink now - 2034. Day one: delicious Day two: even more delicious…

Day 1: Never been much of a fan of Carlisle outside the Syrah wines and this wine is well below average. Earth, minerals, red currants and dried flowers. Short finish and low levels of acidity. Poorly made wine that has not aged well. 80 points Day 2: Water downed wine. Spice, earth, twigs, light currants and dust. Short finish. Lacks concentration and low acidity levels. Not a fan. Will try over 4 days to see if any improvement but not expecting much here. 80 points Day 4: New stem and using an Oregon Pinot glass. Time and probably the glass has helped this wine. More vibrant then the first 2 days with violets, plum, minerals, raspberries, twigs, earth and minerals. Much more enjoyable and a great 4 day transformation. Will probably do the five day thing. 88 points Day 5: Still drinkable and better than day 1/2 but not 4. Bramble, red currants, dust, earth, celery, floral and twigs. 87 points Recommendation: Carlisle is at its best with the Syrah's and Zins.
First of all I thought I opened a Palisades. No worries because this one was firing on all cylinders. Predominantly blueberry on the attack and some dark red fruit mid palate. Gritty fine tannins as expected but still quite approachable. Good stuff.

This struck me just right. The blueberry flavor and freshness of the wine, countered with the structure, makes it delicious for me. And I didn't notice any alc signature in the aroma. Just a dark yet fresh tasting Petite....retasting and finishing the final glass the next day, this has significantly softened. Blue fruit, some blackberry today shows up, along with iron and some dark chocolate. Air changed this wine so drink accordingly depending on if you want to enjoy the structure or experience it soft (with air).

Not complete notes here, but a really great wine that is drinking perfectly right now. Thoroughly enjoyed.
