Community Tasting Notes (5) Avg Score: 93.4 points

  • My first reaction to this wine was smooth and silky with an incredibly long rich finish. The Merlot in the wine gives it a unique mouth feel and texture, but what really sticks with me the next day is how long the finish was. This is a special wine. It will improve with time. My guess is that it will be closer to a 100 point wine in 4-5 years. Drinking great now, with all of its richness and majesty. I will not forget this wine. It was a real treat. It reminded me of a Kapscandy merlot.

  • Laser focused and pure expression of Merlot. Medium bodied. Medium finish.

  • The score of 92 came about due to comparison with other CA merlots (particularly Kapcsandy). The red (and black) fruit (think some what plum) were not as elevated as I prefer. While the acidity and tannins were balanced (along with the alcohol content), this merlot did not quite justify the price. Will I keep buying, yes, as this gives a good balance to your merlot collection.

  • At seven years in this wine while drinkable with a few hour decant has the stuffing to age a long time. This beauty can age like the 1st growth right bank French Bordeaux which are also mostly merlot dominant blends. I have one remaining and will let sit for another five years.
Smooth, supple with more red fruit focus. Graphite or pencil shavings noticeable. Thinner in mouthfeel and certainly more French Bordeaux like rather than a modern style Napa red. Not a great QPR but a wonderful special occasion wine.

  • Drank alongside a 2010 chateau clinet. Paired beautifully with our porterhouse.

Dense red fruit on the entry with leather and cigar box flavors emerging after about an hour of decant.

Great wine but not worth the asking price.
