The Jean-Marc Bouley Caillerets 2017 was quite closed, showing little fruit. The texture was nice and supple, but I missed some energy. It also didn’t really open up during the remainder of the evening. I had high hopes for this but it didn’t show the magic I was hoping for.

Duroché Masterclass and Lunch (Restaurant Rijsel, Amsterdam, NL): Beautifully pure, great terroir expression, gently spicy oak, quite calm for a Volnay, not the usual nervosité, fine but firm tannins, flowing finish. Exceptional, has developed incredibly well in the last five years.

A complex and expressive nose of raspberry, cherry, earth, violets and orange peel. The palate has real depth and finesse. It is detailed and has real mineral precision. The mid-palate is creamy without overt sweetness. It builds, has cut and then fans out and lingers. Great wine.

Janselijn Wines & Verkerk Wines Burgundy v. Tuscany Tasting (Restaurant The Lobby Fizeaustraat, Hotel V, Amsterdam, NL): Trade tasting, brief note. With this vineyard the producer seems to have mastered the vintage best, the fruit and generosity is there, even though the oak is quite toasty and the acidity nerveux.
