Warning: Be careful to not drink the whole bottle. The bottle I opened last night was stupidly good. I picked up earthiness, olive, and some spice notes. Medium to full body. Delicious.

Decanted 3 hrs. I’m not normally a fan of alpha dog grapes being blended like Syrah and Cabernet; and while Syrah and Mourvèdre are still Rhone varietals I was curious to see how this Carlisle played out. In the early look at this wine, I’d say this was a success. I think the Mourvèdre was dominant, exhibiting dark pressed berries and tree bark, firm tannins but very savory. Some sweetness hits around the edges and good overall balance. I suspect this will need patience like so many Carlisle Rhône themed reds, so patience will likely be rewarded in due course. A fun deviation from my normal Zin / Syrah / Mourvèdre purchasing and perhaps I’ll get a couple more in future vintages.

One of the best wines I’ve had in awhile, delicious to drink yet complex and so so so well made and balanced. The dark gamy fruit with resolving tannins leaves no harsh edges and long lingering finish. Shame I got allocated so few bottles.

Delicious red blend. Still relatively young.

Spot on with my prior note. Should have waited longer on this one, but too good to not open for friends...Drink or hold.
