The second of two: a little rough around the edges after opening: evident black currant and blackberry, very earthy, somewhat harsh tannins. Dulce unimpressed: but this is Pomerol! Or at least a degree to it. After three days much softened and approachable. Augurs well for the future.

I just thought this was pleasant. Not super complex but well balanced, well made. For $30 I am hard-pressed to think of other bottles at this price point that performed nearly as well

Nice red currant jam, leafy herbs, black pepper, cedar, green tobacco bramble and fresh soil. This is a leaner, very elegant bordeaux, with herbal accents underlying the midpalate and clear pencil lead scoring the finish. This is fresh and well balanced, if a bit modest. My first disappointment in ‘16 bdx. Maybe some palate fatigue after a long day of tasting, but I think this really needs time in bottle. 80% Merlot with equal parts Cab Sauv and Franc. 12 months in 10% new 600 liter demi muids.

It's not very often I get the opportunity to purchase at wholesale, and this affordable little number was when I collected. Not a lot of Pomerol on this side of the Atlantic and certainly not at modest prices. All that said, the wine is pleasant enough with some of the good characteristics of the region: earthy, plummy, velvety. The pity is that all those characteristics are all too brief and the wine is rather simple and short. Still I cannot really complain at the price. Oops: looks like I had made an error on the price originally, making it $1850.00 - definitely not a bargain!!
