Stood up for weeks and decanted off its sediment. Opened up over an hour in the decanter. Medium ruby with bricking consistent with a 24-year-old wine; aromatic, roasted red pepper, red cherry; medium-bodied, medium-plus acidity, balanced 13.5% alcohol, some red fruit but certainly on the mature spectrum, slight sweetness that comes with age for Musar; finish is medium length. Consistent with my previous bottle earlier this year: mature, ready to drink, enjoyable, balanced, but not the most complex Musar. 90 Over the next 6-8 hours, largely unchanged (similar to my last bottle). I think this is a vintage of Musar to drink now. Day 2: Just like last time, this is still enjoyable and has not fallen apart, but it hasn't gained anything either.
Back to this after about 4 months. Sweet with sublime orange peel. Everything in perfect harmony. Long finish. Only 3 hr decant. About 92+ now or 93- On the other hand I am spoiled, drinking lots of 98 and 99. give it a benefit of the doubt.
Team dinner at 67 Pall Mall, Singapore. A single bottle I ordered from the club's wine list towards the end of the evening (S$130). No formal notes. Popped & poured, served lightly chilled. I was concerned that the wine might not show well since the Musars typically need a lot of aeration, but this bottle drank well right from the start. Very gamy, with great fruit, notable old-age sweetness, round tannin, and very good length. A great wine to finish an enjoyable evening with the team.
Reading notes below , seems like there’s significant bottle variation with this vintage and musar in general. Drank at Aba restaurant in Miami. They have a good collection of Musar wines on their list and they are well stored.
Beautiful color and nose, no bricking. Fresh , elegant, sweet fruit with great depth and finish. This wine drunk blind vs 2000 Bordeaux would have been a standout. Loved it and paired beautifully with Mediterranean food
