This has entered a nice drinking window with a two hour decant. Dark cherries, cassis, hint of plums, vanilla, oak. Round, rich, darker fruits. I don’t see this changing much. Nice wine for a Sunday evening
One hour decant. Deep dark intense magenta color. Boysenberry, black currant, tobacco, lemon-infused Russian tea cake, and lavender. Dry, plush, full bodied palate, with sandy acidity. Firm, full, medium intensity tannins on the longish finish.
This is a bit Syrah-like and perhaps a slightly dialed down version of Ontogeny (as some have noted). Even so, it’s a very fun drinker if you’re into bold red wine. Should keep improving for at least another year, but I do believe it’s an early drinker.

Lerner Project is co-owned by Russ Bevan. This red wine is similar to his Ontogeny - cabernet sauvignon with healthy dollops of Merlot and cab franc. sourced mostly from sugarloaf vineyard, I believe
I gave this three hours in the decanter, based upon prior experience, which seemed about right. This is a very dark, purple wine. largely black fruited- cassis, plums, blackberries, with notes of chocolate, crushed stone, bay leaf and mint. well balanced, dry, mineral driven finish.
I would describe this as a dialed back version of Ontogeny - not quite as plush or smooth, but nice concentration and balance. This plays it to the darker side of the cabernet spectrum that I know many prefer. I personally like a bit more brightness and energy with more spice/cedar notes
A wine that is evolving at this stage. Good wine, but slightly dialed back at for now. Tasting notes are much like last my last bottle but this experience was muted, less expressive. Just a bump in the road I believe, I'll wait awhile before I pop another bottle.

PNP - so maybe not fair but rich red fruit - almost over top - limited mineral / back palate - probably not buy again
