  This bottle was drinking great. Lovely Nuits nose, all about sauvage, little about fruit. Firm and bright on the palate, the fruit gives it just enough roundness for the wine to drink very easily. There's of course not too much depth to the fruit, but that's hardly a complaint. The tannins have smoothed out a lot and this was very harmonious. A fine example of Bourgogne rouge.

The aged fruit characteristics were also present on the palate, melded nicely with the relaxed acidity. Without food, the somewhat unrefined tannins make their presence known. But with dinner they fade to the background and let the wine's savory flavors come to the fore. This is by no means tired, but it's certainly in its middle age. A baby NSG drinking very well.

  Nice character for a Bourgogne. Drinking much better than some of the younger Burgudies opened recently. Paired well with G.'s meal, and a bottle she really enjoyed. A nice bit of structure with a somewhat rustic character, with an odd but pleasant note of horehound on the palate. Enjoyable but not quite as good the second day, when it developed a bit of mudiness. Shows best with a hnt of a chill to it.
