Deep red color. Aromas of blackberries, anise, dried herbs and wood spices. Medium bodied fruit in the mputh with very good depth and length but a surprising “hot” oaky finish that did not abate for at least a half an hour. Still very fresh at 17 years of age.

Intense blackberry and cherry fruit feature along with provencal herbs. The palate is big, ripe, spicy, intense, (hot), and very structured. This is serious wine that is in maturity, but will hold and continue to evolve for another coupe of decades.

Dark red color with a 15mm bricked transition to clear. PNP, drank a couple glasses over 3 hours at the Ranch. Lovely nose; expressive red and blue fruits of cherry, raspberry, boysenberry, with hints of blueberry; earth, fine leather, aromatic fresh garrigue, dried herbs, subtle pencil and spice. The palate is medium bodied plus, earthy, cherry, red berry, boysenberry, dried herbs, pencil, tar, licorice, black pepper and spice. Excellent showing, restrained and elegant. Right in the window, no rush.

Concentrated fruit with some emerging maturity but also good lift from the acids and the minerals. Still lacking a bit of complexity, might benefit from further aging if the fruit holds up, but no signs today that it wouldn't. Really nice Ch9 that stays on the right side of jammy.
