  • Friday Group Brown Bag Tasting (R&D’s): Double blind, showing a light youthful color and aromas of lemon, mineral, honeysuckle blossoms and hints of coconut. The lemon and mineral follow through on the palate, along with pear and quince flavors, all supported by a judicious amount of wood. Almost like a baby Indigene in some ways, but not as rich or oaky. Easy to identify as Napa chardonnay though given how well the oak was integrated I thought it was a couple of years older.

  • This is a clear, medium straw yellow colored wine. On the palate there are notes of apple, lemon, lime, and mango. The wine has a strong oak presence bringing butterscotch, toast, vanilla, and nutty components. This is an intense and rich chardonnay with ample body. Its 15.1% alcohol indicates ripe grapes, but it doesn't taste as ripe as a Mer Soleil. Overall this is a good, opulent wine at a good price point.

  • Explodes out of the glass like Iron Mike in 1986. This isn’t second rate juice it’s the Sunoco gas your dad used to buy 100 octane (leaded). Titanic levels of fruit with depth that rivals the Marianas trench. Pineapple, Apples, pears... Great structure and acidity. Drink now for the full experience.

  • Classic Napa Chard, big and powerful with the whole gamut of Chard flavors. A bargain at $32 at Bottle King. Love the wine, hate the overweight bottle... this wine doesn't need that eyewash, it stands on its own.

  • Beringer 2021 PR Chard is an exceptional value at $37.50 (Total Wine). At least a 95-96 rated (assuming you do a proper decant). From the Gamble Ranch in Oakville, old Wente Clone. Reductive and flinty personality with sliced pears, apples, lemons, light cream., white flowers, chalky minerality, toasted hazelnuts. Full-bodied and very agile on the palate with good tension, staying calm until the end when it kicks in and runs long. 80% new oak, but the other 20% comes from larger barrels (puncheons) and is well balanced without overpowering oak. Great for aging, but who wants to wait?
