My favorite pinot from our visit to their winery. Complex notes on the front of forest floor and bramble. still very tight as would be expected but has a very nice finish.

Tasted at the winery, a second generation family operation that produces about 10,000 cases annually. All wines have been Estate fruit since 2014. From 20+ year old vines, destemmed, cold soaked, indigenous yeast fermentation. Aged 10n months in 33% new French oak, medium toast barrels (generating some distinct flavors in the wine, notably vanilla). 13% ABV. Fairly dark garnet crimson (with a tinge of purple?). Nose has baking spice, light pepper, vanilla, cream, dark fruit notes. Palate shows medium high tannins (somewhat puckery), decent acidity, with pomegranate, black cherry, ripe cranberry. Moderately long and slightly bitter finish. Overall seems very tight, closed and youthful. Probably much better with some age. I would say don’t touch for 5 years (eighth birthday) and should be drinking well for another decade after that.

I received this bottle as a gift and I did an impromptu tasting with two friends. I popped the bottle open and I let it sit for about five hours. The 2021 Bethel Heights Pinot is a very nice wine. It is a typical Oregonian Pinot that has a very floral aroma and scents of wild berries. My two drinking partners were impressed as well. Is it worth $65 a bottle? Probably not.
