PnP. Dark berry flavors are prominent in this soft, approachable wine. First experience w this Last Bottle purchase, i don't believe its got a long lifespan but ill happily pick up a few more as near-term quaffs.

I purchased this wine as I am a member of Covert. They participate in a small winery consortium called the Mercury Syndicate, of which, this was an offer that I had to try. Winemaker is Jesse Katz, also of Aperture fame so I bit the hook! The wine does not seem to have any immediate effects from the 2020 fires. It has a short finish but shows complexity with dark fruit (blackberry, currant) along with tobacco and graphite. This is a young wine from my perspective but, again, I am drinking any 2020 wines in my cellar now (I did not purchase the vintage other than club membership commitments) as full impact of the lingering effects of smoke taint, given the size of the 2020 fires, hasn't been fully determined. I have a 2019 Oakville as well but will hold that for another 5-6 years before considering to consume.

When I saw 15% ABV I knew I might have an issue and I was correct. Unbalanced on the overripe, over extracted side. Dense and full bodied, but sweet and syrupy. Not nearly enough acidity, fat and flabby and hot. Unfortunately this describes too many new world cabernets these days. Not enjoyable for my palate.

Great deep acidic cab with plenty of tannins. A bit young although highly enjoyable.
