Impromptu afternoon at ESBK. Pop and poured. Drank in Grassl Cru. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Noe is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of deep red cherries and spices. Artificial oil paint oak smell with more air. Developing. On the palate, dry, gentle high acidity, medium alcohol (13.5%), structured high tannins, quite full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of deep ripe red cherries, sweet spices. Medium finish. Good quality Pinot Noir. Power and structure points to Clos de la Roche but otherwise if tasted blind I might just have called it a reasonably well made New World Pinot Noir too. Quite simple otherwise.
