Off restaurant list. Drank two glasses and then moved to the 96 Angelus we took to the restaurant so finished this the next week. As others mentioned this has a surprisingly developed light golden color. Upon opening this was fairly rich, round and sweet. Not overly oily but still very much in a New Worls Chardonnay style. Oak well managed and very pleasant to drink. On day 2 surprisingly the sweetness has disappeared, this is much more defined by acidity which results in a clearer delineation. Chalk. I liked this and opened out of curiosity the 2017 to compare. The 2017 is in my eyes a touch better in terms of balance but also freshness.

It’s more golden and richer than I expected, roasted cashew, tangerine, a bit of gingery spice, with a fine line of acidity through the middle of the palate and really long. Far too young to drink now, but still very satisfying to drink now

Lay & Wheeler South Africa tasting (Glazier's Hall): For me this is top-tier Chardonnay, irrespective of origin. Beautiful clean and balanced concentration: white flowers, a hint of vanilla, round and pure lemon with a subtle but zingy tropical edge. Very complex, layered, long. Should develop wonderfully.

Solid, but maybe not quite as good as the 2020? I would give this a year or two to settle.
