Community Tasting Notes (43) Avg Score: 94.1 points

  • This wine had a deep yellow/light gold center and clear rims. The moderate+ intensity nose generated fresh apricot, lemon, white stone, and honey notes.

In the mouth, this wine was rich and ripe with firm acidity and very good length. Its intensity moved up and down a bit over time.

My view is that this bottling is starting to slide over the hill due to the extreme ripeness of this vineyard. Other 92 Leflaives are still going strong. Thus, I recommend drinking this wine up.

  • This bottle was more flabby. Not as fresh as the previous bottle. It showed some honey, peach, grass and mint cream.

  • Clean has this kinda of fresh cut grass menthol coolness.

  • I popped 2 bottles for my party. They both had excellent color with a yellow center and clear rims. The first bottle was clearly more recalcitrant than the second and showed a touch more alcohol. The best bottle put forth melon, citrus, almond paste, white stone, and vanilla.

In the mouth, this wine had nice richness but also had bracing acidity and huge length. The score of both bottles declined after hour 1 only to start an upward track after hour 2. They both improved substantially over 5 hours.

One of these bottles was a 95 and the other a 97, so I have averaged them out. I have had bottles in the past that were fat, happy and maybe starting to decline. These bottles, while certainly drinking, would have lasted at least 10 years in the cellar.

  • Vintage richness in abundance but appealing depth. Short finish.
