Reddish orange in color. Nose develops very slowly in the glass to reveal dried plums, cherries, dark red florals, tobacco, alpine herbs and leather. A medium-full bodied palate shows candied and medicinal cherries, hint of savory balsamic notes, high acidity, drying tannins and a long floral and tobacco flavored finish. Very traditional and quite a pleasant drink.

Fort beau barolo avec de l’évolution. Par contre, ça doit encore vieillir et se placer. Besoin d’air, mais donne deja du plaisir dans l’immediat. Va s’ameliorer

This was opened and quickly double decanted to remove sediment. I would consider this the finest Barolo I have ever tasted, mature, yet with many years left in the tank. What is surprising is that this is from a producer who was still considered one of the Barolo boys, but I do not believe their Riserva ever saw any barrique. Tar/balsamic, rose petals, and a cherry cough drop. When you imagine what a classic, mature, Barolo should taste like, this is it.

One of the greatest Barolos I ever tasted, up there with Conterno and Giacosa. In a good place but could go farther. Had a chance to open it side-by-side a 2001 Pira Cannubi and said okay. This was on another level.
