René Engel: Consistent with the last bottle, impressionable Grand Cru fruit clarity and delineation with just the right terroir earthiness in red fruit style. Will age gracefully for ages to come. 94-95

Rene Engel Dinner (Benoit Bistro, Manhattan): Incredible clarity and bottle condition. The more I reflect the more I think that this could have been WOTN. The tannin was resolved and integrated, the fruit and acid were in perfect harmony. Real class and elegance here - almost seems less extracted than other vintages although I am not sure that is true. Color was noticiably different and less brooding than the other bottles of Vougeot.

Drank side-by-side with a 2004 Truchot, so it was a very good night for me . Like the Truchot, this wine showed beautifully on the nose, with huge aromas of black cherry, Vosne-like spice, and deep mushroomy forest floor elements, with maybe just a trace of roasted strawberry to betray the vintage character. On the palate, however, this was much deeper, darker, and more structured than the Truchot, with warm black cherry fruit on the front end, but a fine, tannic clamp on the finish. Delicious now, but I think this wine will show another gear with a few more years on its side.

Beautiful rendition of a ripe vintage, darker red fruit, earthy, rose petal, spicy, super detailed. 94

200 Burgundy Grand Crus from vintage 2000, 4-day blind tasting (Singapore): Nose of plum, ripe a bit pushed, pushed, very Ponsot style, dried plum again on the mid palate, marmalade. Complex but the finish is a touch drying.
