Translucent, a little pale, a hint of orange at the rim, no sign of browning. This is distinctly reduced (sulfide aroma), making it tough to evaluate. There is an acid line, then wow, this is still youthfully tannic, with some give / fruit around the edge of the tongue. Good length. The reduction improves a little with air and aggressive swirling, revealing some mineral notes. This is at least 5 years too soon; nothing advanced about this bottle. The question is how it will all come together, it is pretty much inscrutable right now.

With every other wine from the mid to late 90s we thought the 08 vintage would be super apparent and it really wasn't. This was quite advanced (diam corks maybe?). Drinking relatively well but was completely overpowered by the rest of the wines. Ponsot for me isn't usually a big hit. For this plot, I had much better wines from Lignier (better than Dujac?), Dujac, and Laurent's negoce bottlings.

12/8/2023 - zigzag Does not like this wine:
I think it is way past its prime. Very dark and unpleasant aftertaste.

Magnum. Pinch acidity, cherry, some funk, good richness. 92-93
