 | 1960 Château Latour Grand Vin (France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac) | 10/17/2009 | Beavis77 | |
Did not decant. Color was purplish red with a slight bricking on the rim. Beautiful nose of dark fruit with some savory herb aromas. A touch of tobacco leaf. Smelled fresh and bright, and not 49-years old. The palate had full fruit with a fungal, mushroomy note. Some great savory herbs and tobacco flavors. Great balance with the tannins. Very fresh and alive. This is a perfect example of the old adage of buying the 1st growths in the lesser vintages. They have the resources to make the wines stand up for a long time. A nice treat in a stellar lineup. (260 views) $ FIND THIS WINE on WINE-SEARCHER.COM $ |

It is a privilege to drink such old fully mature wines. This bottle may have been better 15-20 years ago (more power), but it was still very good. An appealing nose of cigar tobacco, meaty aroma's and forest floor, very soft mouthfeel, all in balance. The tobacco notes are very much present but in a very smooth style. long aftertaste. Quite complex (526 views) $ FIND THIS WINE on WINE-SEARCHER.COM $ |
