Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 86.7 pts. and median of 88 pts. in 13 notes)

Tasted by charliesea on 6/1/2008 & rated 88 points: Pleasant but still a Merlot. Meats or Pizza make it interesting. On its own it there is rich chocolate on the nose and berries on the palate. (235 views)

Tasted by charliesea on 3/31/2008 & rated 88 points: Red berry/floral nose. Rich on the palate, with an umami that I can't put a label on. Sort of a menthol richness, but warmer. Good acidity and finish that remain food-friendly. Red and black fruits predominate. (324 views)
Tasted by charliesea on 3/15/2008 & rated 90 points: Rich but hard to qualify. the nose varies between menthol and peat as it breathes. The palate is dry with good acid and finish. (334 views)
Tasted by charliesea on 3/3/2008 & rated 88 points: Not a great finish, but an interesting nose and a fresh palate make a great qpr. (340 views)

Tasted by GodStreetWine on 12/25/2007 & rated 88 points: Solid now. Expect this to improve a lot in the next few years. (233 views)
Tasted by rothdog on 10/30/2007 & rated 77 points: Although slightly better than the '03 Caparone Zinfandel and '03 Caparone Cabernet Sauvignon, this is one musty, mousey, messed up wine. Murky and ruby/brick red, this wine shows little varietal typicity due to faults such as high acidity and high levels of Brettanomyces. Similar notes for the previously mentioned wines. I take no joy in bashing this winery as I am a true wine lover and do not like belittling someone else's work, but you will be better off if you heed my warning and steer clear of this producer.  Tasted by zeppo55 on 3/31/2007 & rated 88 points: Beautiful dark color. Very oaky aroma with dark and red fruits trying to get out. Continues on the taste with tannins that are very strong. Great long finish.
I drank this much to young and think this easily has 10 year window. Hope I can taste it 5 yrs from now. (742 views)

California is one of the most diverse wine regions in the world, with almost 100 grape varieties grown in almost 10 viticultural areas, including dozens of different microclimates and soil types, as well as a very individualistic set of winemakers, many with international experience, which adds to and deepens that diversity.
