  Wine took 5 plus hours to open up then became very tasty. Don’t be in a hurry to drink after opening.

  Bought at AO in 2009 upon release and has been in my cellar since. Took it out and had Coles Chop House decant it for dinner 1 hour before our booking - wine was up to temp before I handed it over - but it was 46 degrees where we were dining (brrr). Fruitful nose, felt tight on the taste and never really unwound over the next couple of hours. Was expecting a lot more from this but it never came. Didnt build upon any of the legacy AO has built from their signature cabs of the late 2000's.

  The ERA got better almost every year for a decade, but this inaugural edition still possesses a smoothness and nice finish. Well integrated and pleasing chocolate, dark berry notes, though a little muted.

  My GF did a blind tasting to me with this wine and the ‘12 AO to Kalon. The TK was ready from the start, this one was tied at first, the body is massive, the mid palate very pleasant but short finish and close on the nose. After about 30 minutes and pairing it with a Peperoni & Italian Sausage Pizza it got much better, I this this wine needs a long time to opened up, like one hour or a bit more. But it’s not showing it’s age at all, if you have this bottle don’t be afraid of holding many more years...

  Dark purple in color. Notes of blackberry, licorice and vanilla. Dry, med body, med acidity, smooth tannins. Bought this direct from winery. Great wine but at this price it should be. Just as nice Napa cabs out there at better rice.
