Flight 1 white Burgundy

  • 2006 Domaine d'Auvenay (Lalou Bize-Leroy) Bourgogne-Aligoté Sous Chatelet - France, Burgundy, Bourgogne-Aligoté
With yields close to 15 hl/ha. Exploding nose! Very complex with flint and lemon. On the palate rich nutty flavors with lots of texture and enough acid to support balance. Very long impressive finish! Can never imagine this is just an Aligote …. (91 pts.)
  • 2009 Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Meursault 1er Cru Charmes - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
Medium straw colour. Beautiful subtle nose of apples and lemon. Good complexity on the palate which has a nice mineral streak with full rounded flavours of yellow fruit, lemon, pineapple and very nice acidity. Decent strong tight finish ready to explode! Very stylish for the vintage and a great Meursault Charmes …. (93 pts.)

Flight 2 Cornas

Cornas is made of 100% Syrah, with a maximum permitted yield 40hl/ha. In 1988, Pierre Clape takes over the estate. All wines are harvested by hand, sorted and are not de-stemmed. Cornas is aged for 22 months in 6 or 12 hl-foudres.

  • 1994 Domaine Auguste Clape Cornas - France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Cornas
The summer was hot and dry, with some welcome rain in early September. Nice nose showing a hint of herbs and fresh mint. Moderate acidity with tannins that were evident yet not overbearing.
Medium depth and structure, dark fruit and leather flavors and fairly light medium finish. (89 pts.)
  • 1993 Domaine Auguste Clape Cornas - France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Cornas
A fine summer in the northern Rhône was wrecked by sopping wet weather, which descended on 25 September, shortly before harvesting, provoking an attack of mildew and rot. Severe selection was essential. Earthy and meaty nose. The palate was earthy too with cherries and mushroom. Moderate acidity, good depth and structure. Medium finish … (90 pts.)
  • 1992 Domaine Auguste Clape Cornas - France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Cornas
The spring was hot, but there was rain at flowering and for many weeks thereafter, exposing many vineyards to mildew. August was hot, but then rain returned, with rot in its wake. Earth, dried tobacco on the nose. The palate was rustic with dusty tannins and evident acidity, some earth, spices and mushrooms, medium finish which offers more meaty notes. (90 pts.)
  • 1991 Domaine Auguste Clape Cornas - France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Cornas
After a wet spring, the summer in the northern Rhône was dry and hot. Heavy rain fell from 11 September, but strong winds kept rot to manageable levels. Earth, truffle and floral elements on a beautiful nose. Medium body with, low acidity and nicely integrated tannins some tones of cherries, mushroom and bacon. With a red fruited and meaty finish. (91 pts.)
  • 1990 Domaine Auguste Clape Cornas - France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Cornas
A great year in the northern Rhône, despite the near-drought conditions. On the palate this was more polished than recent bottle’s. Impressive nose of dense olive tapenade, dried tobacco, and cherries. Great earthen-driven flavors of mushroom, tobacco, cherries and some spiced plums. Very nice integrated tannins, great depth, balance and a long powerful finish. While it’s insanely great to drink now, still a long and bright future. (93 pts.)
  • 1989 Domaine Auguste Clape Cornas - France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Cornas
Arid conditions in the north slowed down maturation, but the best wines, picked during the last week in September. This was the perfect bottle to drink alongside the 1990. With a earthy, meaty nose and darker fruits. Great rustic texture with spices, dark fruits and a long earthy and meaty finish. Less powerful than the 1990, although a great Cornas for now !!! (92 pts.)

Flight 3 sweet white wine

  • N.V. Jacques Selosse Champagne Exquise Sec - France, Champagne
Degorged 21-october-2011. The NV Demi-Sec Exquise is the same base blend as the Initiale but with a higher dosage of 20g/l. Light golden color. Complex aromas of brown sugar, almond, hazelnut, lemon, melon and peaches. Medium bodied, seductive and elegant with the soft sweetness and yellow fruits. Excellent persistent, long finish. A wine with impeccable balance, precision, freshness and class. (93 pts.)
  • 2009 Château Rieussec - France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Sauternes
Residual sugar 160 g/l. Bright, greeny gold. Citrus and noble rot complexity on the nose. There is great structure of richness and sweetness, with some honey. Powerfully aromatic finish. A very rich style with great potential … (93 pts.)

Wonderful tasting and excellent company, also tasted some very interesting; 2009 Provignage, 2011 Nicolas Fauré Nuits st Georges Les Herbues and a flight Condrieu .....
