  • 1997 C. H. Berres Ürziger Würzgarten Riesling Auslese - Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer
Posted this in the CT forums, so will just use for my TN here :)

I like this bottle of '97 better than the one I had at Thanksgiving...this one seems more full and rich, and I get really nicely developed fruit, green apple, apricot, mango, and I swear a hint of chamomile mint tea, with the petrol in a supporting role...I remember the previous bottle as petrol dominant.

I did jump this up a couple points, this bottle was better. (91 pts.)
  • 2008 Von Hövel Scharzhofberger Riesling Spätlese - Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer
Also posted this in the CT forums, but will use as my TN here:

Not too complicated, but a very nice bottle at $20; I get apple, some pineapple, the wife got papaya, with some underlying petrol. Tangy, noticeable acidity on the finish...Definitely could lay some down! (89 pts.)
  • 2008 Tablas Creek Esprit de Beaucastel - USA, California, Central Coast, Paso Robles
    Bottle slightly corked (FLAWED)
  • 2010 Bedrock Wine Co. Syrah Pleine de Chene Hudson Vineyard North - USA, California, Napa / Sonoma, Carneros
    Decanted for 8+ hours.

I think this is a good example of pretty textbook Syrah. Blackberry, bacon fat, smoked meat, hint of eucalyptus, touch of minerality.

Give it a long decant or cellar for a couple more years. (92 pts.)
