  • 2007 Freie Weingärtner Wachau / Domäne Wachau Riesling Smaragd Kellerberg - Austria, Niederösterreich, Wachau
Fully mature, good intensity, hint of petrol, ripe fruit, slightly low on energy and acidity, adequate length. (87 pts.)
  • 2005 Bodegas AAlto Ribera del Duero AAlto - Spain, Castilla y León, Ribera del Duero
Not too big, sweet cherries, very modern and international, flavoursome but not profound, spicy, smoky oak, grainy tannins, very good length. (91 pts.)
  • 1995 Château d'Issan - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux
Mature but lively appearance; fully mature nose, nice blackcurrant fruit, good depth, hint of spice, opens up nicely; the palate displays medium weight, good tannic grip, slender, sturdy rather than charming, slightly medicinal flavours; good length. Better than the bottle tasted two years ago. (90 pts.)
  • 1997 Château La Mission Haut-Brion - France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan
Mature but lively appearance; ripe and sweet fruit, sous-bois, pepper, charming, lovely bricky warmth, gravel, slightly medicinal, soft and fully mature; good length. Much better than last time. (90 pts.)
  • 1995 Château Gruaud Larose - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
Still rich and savoury but getting on a bit; nice weight, well-balanced, good structure, slightly dusty; good length. (91 pts.)
  • 1996 Château Rieussec - France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Sauternes
Quite evolved, dried apricot, clean and linear, more than slightly drying, hint of penicillin, peaty and smoky but subtle, very good length. (90 pts.)
  • 1999 Château Rieussec - France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Sauternes
A much livelier and fresher profile than the 1996, lots of botrytis, quite oaky, ripe fruit, honeyed, vibrant acidity, lovely tension but seems less expressive and powerful than before, touch of caramel, very good length. (92 pts.)
  • 1999 Erich Meiser Bechtheimer Hasensprung Huxelrebe Trockenbeerenauslese - Germany, Rheinhessen
Very sweet, floral, honeyed, ripe fruit, high-toned, apricot and peach, acidity seems slightly low however, lacks a bit of firmness in the core; good length. (91 pts.)
