N.V. Ian Macleod Islay Gold 10 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky, 40% (United Kingdom, Scotland, Islay) 5/21/2022wmccone5490

An Introduction Into the World of Whiskey (Total Wine & More Arboretum Village, Austin, TX): Made from 100% peated barley malt. Very intense and complex single malt scotch with the taste of smoke, mineral, and spice. Complex mouthfeel which all comes together to form a very good balanced spirit. I'm not a fan of the heavily "peated" style, but I imagine those that are will love this for $36 USD.

Like many of these "Spirits Direct" samples provided today, this is another private label product sold by Total Wines & More (the actual producer is Ian Macleod Distillers in Broxburn, Scotland, UK, sourced from Islay). (365 views)

Port Ellen is closed since 1983.
Ardbeg was temporally closed from 1983 to 1989, so just open in time for a 30 YO in 2021.
The others are:
Bowmore
Bunahabhain
Bruichladdich
Caol Ila
Lagavulin
and
Laphroaig.
For me it tastes like a Bunnahabhain or a Bruichladdich. (1251 views)

N.V. Ian Macleod Smokehead Single Malt Scotch Whisky, 43% (United Kingdom, Scotland, Islay) 7/24/2016Loren Sonkin

A single malt scotch tasting (Charlie's (In the Wood's of Newbury)): Slight smoke with some peat but not overpowering. There is also a sweaty sock quality to the nose. Its pretty smooth on the palate, but the finish is clipped. It just stops. A bit odd. Good but different. 3.25/5 (1300 views)

N.V. Ian Macleod 12 Year Old Isle of Skye Blended Scotch Whisky, 43% (United Kingdom, Scotland, Isle of Skye) 2/10/2013joraesque88

Toffee and caramel on the nose, as well as some faint peat. Toasty oak on the palate, soft caramel, and brown sugar, with just a little peat on the finish. At under $40, this blend of Skye and Speyside malts is a great value. (1029 views)
