Spicy as all get-out on the nose, with anise, black pepper, chewing tobacco, over top of mesquite, prunes, plum caked, and some smoked sausage. Light tannins and medium acidity. The palate sports raspberry jam and plum cake, mixed with roasted red bell pepper, sage, eucalyptus, and lots of spiced tea. Doesn’t have a long life ahead, but I really liked this one’s unique, spicy, airy profile. Tasted blind, I guessed this as a Napa Cab Franc from the late 90s. (91 views)

Aromatically intense and a bit confusing, but I like it: saline, almond skin, dill, lime zest, and lemon peels. The palate is taut and nervy with grapefruit and green apples, which is accented by a unique blend of mint, dill, grass, nettle, white pepper. Lots of pickles on the nose, like pickled okra with sweet relish, cranberry sauce, sweet plums, all sorts of roasted meats. The palate is jammy and ripe with moderate acidity and flavors of black cherry jam, mulled strawberries. Nice grip from the tannins, and I get a lot of pepper, mesquite, grilled meats, barbecue sauce, and coffee grounds. Holding well and totally delicious. Beautiful richness/raciness combination, and the flavors are exciting and dynamic.
