90-91 Seriously good stuff and a great value. Decanted and immediately poured, features sweet, plumb fruits of dark berries and plumbs backed by a spine of iron and a bit of a pepper on the finish. The second day, left in the carafe at 60 degrees it was even better, taking on a luscious texture and knit to together nicely. A bit short on length otherwise it would rate even higher. Espresso, flowers cocoa and black plums with a touch of spice open the nose. The wine is juicy, and flavorful, offering a big blast of chewy. dark, red fruits, cocoa and espresso on the mid-palate and in the spicy, fresh finish. The wine is interesting as you often find as much as 50% of the blend devoted to old vine Petit Verdot along with Merlot. Drink from 2023-2038. (438 views)

ABV: 14.0%. 40% Merlot, 35% Petit Verdot, and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon. Gorgeous nose of violets, white pepper, pencil shavings, and graphite mixed with boysenberries, blackberries, and black plums. On the palate, the tanins are soft and the wine's kept intact by the well-integrated acidity, elevating the fruit tones. The super lengthy finish (at least a minute long) ends with a cola-like flavor profile. If you're planning to open a bottle soon, be sure to decant it for at least a hour. This wine can easily cellar for at least another decade.

11/13/2022 - Raised the score by two points. Over the past 24 hours, this wine has slowly evolved and blossomed, becoming even more enticing. What's striking is the luscious fruit on the mid-palate, which explodes with all the berries and plums. That cola-like profile from last night has shifted into a beautiful Chambord-like quality with every sip, followed by a slight hint of umami. The lengthy finish is still there, lingering with all the juicy fruit tones. There's still a little grip from the tannins, but it's not distracting in any way with the gush of fruit from every sip. This wine has turned out to be a beautiful surprise. (556 views)

Not bad at all - an interesting nose, a combination of quite ripe, deep, fruity aromas - blackcurrants and raspberries mainly, but also some Asian spice, a bit of game, some leather and even a hint of hazlenut. The attack is much less rich than expected, quite a classic blend of blackcurrant and plum, with again some savoury flavours, this time a little meatiness and quite a subtle but persistent wave of spices. The middle section broadens out into something fruitier, with velvety plum dominating some dark cherry, before the blackcurrant comes back on the quite tannic finish.
What makes it interesting is certainly the 50% Petit Verdot, but there's a pleasing crispness to the fruit which keeps it on track.
Not a "classic" claret, but not an über-ripe in-yer-face Rolland clone either, this is very promising and should improve further. (915 views)
