Serious, weighty, more than a fair bit of grapefruit and grapefruit pith, lime, unripe apricots, some bitter quinine, crushed rock. Less alcohol, higher acid and more balanced than 2012 CP. The best CP I’ve had to date - I definitely prefer the wine from this vineyard in cooler years. (901 views)

California Dreamin' - Double Blind - Zin/PS/Cab - 70's - 2009: Brief notes - warm-up wine prior to blind tasting. Absolutely insane floral aromatics on the nose makes this one of the more memorable wines in a very strong tasting. More florals, spice, and lychee on the palate wrapped in a medium bodied frame with plenty of acidity. Pprime time drinking right now. Love Compagni-Portis with a little age on it!! (1142 views)

Opened on our first really nice day of the year. Very reticent nose of quine, slate, green apple, peach, a little spice. Very neutral, buttery, lacking any sweetness whatsoever. Perhaps this needs more air and warmth. Will update after coming to room temp. (1328 views)

Carlisle Winemaker Dinner with Mike Officer (Luciana's, Dana Point, CA): Light straw color. Aromas of perfume, petrol, and yellow fruit. Medium weight, light spice, pear on the attack, high acid mid palate. Finishes with lots of lemon rind and just a ton of complexity. Reminds me of a Chenin. (1753 views)

Carlisle In The OC: Tasted alongside the 2012. This 2011 shows leaner, more acid playing into tjhe flavor, too. Lemon/lime, ginger and a lean guava/papaya. (1752 views)

1970 - 1978 Ridge Zinfandels (Tom's House, Palo Alto, CA): Reticent nose, some peach and spice. Light to medium bodied with medium+ acidity. Tart peach, nice floral notes. Delicious and a different style from the Bedrock (which has much more Gewurz in the blend) and Arnot-Roberts (which is leaner, more austere). (1572 views)

Popped and poured. Aroma has a lot of green apple along with some lime. Taste has a lot of acidity from green apple but has some stone fruit and honeydew as well. Enjoyable, but a bit too much acidity. (1114 views)
