Fleshy fruit buttressed by the vintage's acidity. Decent balance. Quite an easy wine to enjoy. Just a little flabby, so I don't think this would make old bones. Had this with a 2013 Jabot Chevalier Demoiselles which was much more chiseled in comparison. Good but not great. (432 views) | ||||

Another great Batard from Paul Pernot who has quickly become one of my favorite producers of this vineyard. Expressive nose of lemon curd, vanilla, flower, grape fruit, some mineralic notes. Creamy palate with excellent freshness and aromatic intensity. Especially for a 2013 this carries good mid mouth presence. Very young still. I recently had the 2008 and if this goes into that direction it can add a point from here. (2128 views) | ||||

Honey dew melon, toast, cinnamon, lemon, lemon peel, grapefruit, honey. Spectacular nose and rich appearance. Pure on the palate, rich but elevated and light. Medium body, medium + acid. Sweetness on the finish with some herbaceous and mineral notes. Excellent. (1637 views) | ||||

Lush and rich, with aromas of lemon curd, mixed florals, and exotic spice. Clear Botrytis influence. The richly-textured and pleasing medium-full body impresses most for its intensity of flavor, with excellent concentration and significant dry extract. A product of the vintage but not worse for it. Surprisingly sweet, ripe and tropical notes on the nose, aromas similar to a muscat even (some said it smelled like a dessert wine); slightly grassy with some modest citrus on nose and palate; was sure this was just an advanced bottle til I saw Blair Curtis' note (below). Weird, because I have 5 year older Pernot bourgognes that are drinking much fresher than this! A very good wine but still not in character for what I expected. (1930 views) | ||||

Great wines at Oriole in Chicago!: Drank at Oriole in Chicago as part of a reserve tasting list. A fantastic choice! I think my flash note says it perfectly...Pernot licorice in Pernot way. Bone. A delicious wine, but not my style of Batard (or white Burg). Somehow, the constant overachiever Pernot ended up with a tropical and New-Worldish Batard in 2013...which is not what I want. I bought this vintage without tasting it because I had tried prior versions and they were tremendous, and much more elegant. This one seemed overblown and too ripe. Everyone enjoyed it to some extent, but we all found ourselves wanting a lot more typicity. Unfortunate. (1840 views) | ||||
