Hawaiian Escape; 11/19/2016-11/26/2016 (Kuki'o): Very ripe green and red apple fruit with some juicy pineapple. A touch oxidative, especially when first opened, but not flawed. Pleasant minerality. Good but pretty basic... (2307 views)

One of the greatest village whites I have tasted. This was so fresh yet complex and engaging. It had a big whiff of smoke to the aroma along with some spice and ripe orchard fruits. It is a rich and powerful wine with real sappy density but is by no means heavy. It is flecked with minerals and there's a strong line of grapefruit acidity. The finish is loaded with chalky dry extract and it is very long. Brilliant! (1509 views)

Same as last time. Too developed and certainle not correct for its age. Pretty dark, very pungent nose of apples in decay, truffles and more of a chenin blanc profile than a top burgundy. All the signs of premox unfortunately. (1578 views)

At a tasting we compared Lafon Meursault 2005, 2006 and 2007. The 2005 was the most developed with a deep pungent nose of frash lime and acid on top and hay, butter and wet clay below. After 30 min the nose calmed down and came together. Typical 2005 with inner sweetness and good acidity, just like the red. The 2006 was greener and more sprawley on the nose with lesser acidity and freshness on the palate. The 2007 was the best wine at this time, with butter and wood on the nose, medium body and very fresh and prominent acidity. Quite lovely now! (1538 views)

I've had bad luck lately knowing when to drink my white burgs, but this one seemed just about perfect. Clean, elegant, balanced and poised with all that nice hazelnut, pear thing going on. Definitely lives up to the reputation. (1600 views)
