I am wearing this theme out with this wine but it is functionally equivalent to the A to Z Pinot Noir from Oregon that sells for 1/3 the price. Lesson learned. Pleasant quaffer. (2110 views)

Tasted immediately after opening. Garnet color. Aroma of ripe raspberry and oak. Light, fresh, refreshing, juicy and uncomplicated. This would be good summer patio fare although something domestic with this profile could be had for half the price. The 2009 A to Z Pinot Noir from Oregon comes to mind. (2338 views)

Another '07 table bourgogne showing quite well. The color much darker than many '07 1er and grand crus I've drunk. A simple wine, but a complete one that paired well with a roasted chicken. Got better with aeration and when slightly chilled after the bottle had been on the table/counter for a while. A good burst of fruit in the mouth followed by a short finish, but for table bourgogne, drinking beautifully. My same complaint as with the '07 Anne Gros bourgogne--a shame that table burgundy is so pricey. $26 for this bottle. (1283 views)

A bit rough (and not that pleasurable) on day 1. Much improved on day 2, better integration, really drinking much better. As strange as it might sound for a 4y old regional wine: hold. (1315 views)

Splash decanted. No formal notes taken. Reasonably good for a bourgogne, but not for the price. Clean, but not terribly inviting or interesting. Of course, it could just be too young. (1402 views)

okay, i was a bit rash before. this is much better. still not a great MG bourgogne, but Oregon wine, it is not. there is fruit and earth and raspy tannins structure the wine. the wine seems much purer this time, without all the wood, although the alcohol sticks out a little. (1526 views)

I'll begin by saying that to me the oak seems present but far more resolved than BG noted. Underlying spice but certainly no vanilla or wood tannin. Still, the fruit is slight but pretty sweet in the way of youthful sappiness. The nose is rather nondescript and perhaps a bit closed. Overall it is a nice and somewhat delicate bourgogne that would be a pleasure at $15, but is a disaster at the price asked. This represents terrible value. It is priced amongst the highest of bourgogne rouge and has failed to deliver what others in that range can. (1507 views)

I'm not entirely convinced. The oak influence here is a bit much, with prominent vanilla and woody tannins. I fear that the fruit may not be strong enough to balance and absorb this. It is ripe fruit, but not terribly deep or complex. The overall effect reminds me of something that might come out of Oregon, I am alarmed to say. I liked this wine, and I certainly will look forward to trying another bottle in a few years, but I don't think this a a great version of Mugneret-Gibourg Bourgogne. (1692 views)
