2008 Château Haut-Bergey (France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan) 2/16/2013Jpacheco

1 hour decant. Charcoal, spices and red fruit on the nose; medium bodied with good acidity yet still with some tannins left. I would hold this for +2 years. (6022 views)

2008 Viña Cobos Malbec Bramare Lujan de Cuyo (Argentina, Mendoza, Lujan de Cuyo) 4/14/2012Jpacheco

Decanted over 30 mins made a big difference. Raspberry and plum on the nose, the palate was very rich with red fruits and super concentrated. Full-bodied wine that could use some years in the cellar. (4105 views)

2008 Château Rol Valentin (France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru) 2/15/2012Jpacheco

Tasted it on Valentine's day along with flank steak with spinach and potato salad. Decanted over an hour. 90% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc; 14% alcohol.
Nice purple ruby color. Cherry, tar and a little herbal note on the nose, after decanting it for 30 mins the cigar scent came out.
Medium bodied, fine tannins, red fruit with some mineral taste, good acidity and decent finish.
2nd day: Coffee aromas developed after one day left in the bottle while the palate went down a little bit.
Overall good qpr, I'm looking forward to the 2009. (5157 views)

2005 Château Palmer (France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux) 9/19/2011Jpacheco

Great bouquet showing violets, banana, cassis and red fruits. There are more I could not distinguish as the nose had lots of complexity. Very opulent wine, with leather and soil in the palate finishing with great tannins. Very persistent on mouth I will definitely look this one up 5 years from now. Tasted the same day as the '08 Palmer and this one felt entirely different. (13767 views)

2008 Château Léoville Poyferré (France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien) 9/19/2011Jpacheco

Coffee and oak aromas dominate the nose. Earthy in the palate, I enjoyed the structure and balanced shown. I agree that the fruit was somewhat hidden in this one so might be interesting to see how it evolves in the cellar. (14371 views)

2008 Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande (France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac) 9/19/2011Jpacheco

Lots of red fruit on the nose, this medium bodied wine seemed very "young" and super drinkable already. It's very balanced but in my opinion didn't offer much complexity. (11648 views)

2004 Château Cheval Blanc (France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru) 9/17/2011Jpacheco

Aromas of cherry, raspberry are mixed with a mineral scent. On the palate I tasted leather and soil. Very, very fresh with lots of tannins and a 30 secs finish. In my opinion it needs to cellar 4-6 more years as it felt a little too tannic but otherwise it is still drinkable now. (8934 views)

2008 G.D. Vajra Langhe Nebbiolo (Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Langhe DOC) 9/6/2011Jpacheco

Ruby colored when poured, it showed a fruity nose with some floral scents. Good acidity but well balanced with tannins, it is a very approachable Nebbiolo if you want to enjoy it right now. Needs decanting. (1443 views)
