| Community Tasting Notes (average 90.7 pts. and median of 91 pts. in 24 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by IAmVintage on 1/27/2021 & rated 93 points: Wow, found this one hiding in the back of cellar and so glad. The added aging brought out the exotic fruits and caramelization all the more and that's saying something! Almost to the point of viscous unctuousity, but not unbalanced. Huge finish for minutes... yum. :-p (780 views) | | Tasted by Baron Slick on 2/28/2017 & rated 92 points: Very similar profile to its sister wine, the 2009 Cuvée Alyce I had last November. Golden amber color. Ripe, fragrant notes of caramel and butterscotch, over mandarin oranges, mangoes, and southern tea. Juicy, flavorsome, and long. Very balanced. Plenty of structure, bottle age, and complexity. Candied lemon peel on the extended finish. Nice. (1632 views) | | Tasted by Vinnut on 11/9/2016 & rated 91 points: Subsequent notes on this wine from over a year ago. Medium golden yellow in color. Forward, attractive & fragrant nose of ripe fruit aromas of citrus notes of lemons/limes, pears & yellow peach with overtones of floral notes of honeysuckle & minerals/stony, hazelnuts/alomonds, spice notes, honey & butter & a touch of toasty oak & vanilla in the background. Medium bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, complex, ripe fruit flavors of tart green apples, sweet pineapple & citrus notes of lemons/limes & grapefruit with spices, minerals, stony, buttery & a hint of toasty oak & vanilla. Lingering crisp finish. Drinks quite well at present and although it may be close to its peak of development, it has the fruit & structure to hold at this plateau of development for a few more additional years. (1683 views) | | Tasted by Vinnut on 8/20/2015 & rated 91 points: Medium-light golden yellow in color. Forward, attractive and fragrant nose of ripe fruit aromas of citrus overtones of lemons/limes, pears & peach with floral notes of honeysuckle, grassy, roasted hazelnuts, spice notes of nutmeg, some honey & butter, minerals, stony and a touch of toasty oak & vanilla in the background. Medium bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, complex, ripe fruit flavors of tart green apples, sweet pineapple & citrus notes of lemons/limes & grapefruit with spices, minerals, stony, buttery and a hint of toasty oak & vanilla. Lingering crisp finish. Drinks quite well at present but has the fruit & structure to continue with its development for a few more additional years. A lovely and expansive Chardonnay. Oak no longer stands out. Nice peach, apple and melon flavors and some nice minerality. Perfect time to enjoy. 91 points (1579 views) | | Tasted by cos82 on 12/24/2013 & rated 90 points: A nice wine of apple and chalk on the nose and palate. (1732 views) | | Tasted by The Drunken Cyclist on 8/23/2013: We started off the pre-meal festivities with a sublime 2009 Walter Hansel Cahill Lane Chardonnay, which paired beautifully with the rousing game of post-beach go-fish with my four-year-old son.

A little too expensive for the delivery but will likely try again. (1725 views) | | Tasted by Schiffy on 7/3/2013 & rated 92 points: With some more aging, this wine has gained complexity with its crisp apple notes along with rich buttery taste...its an interesting blend of flavors that makes this Chardonnay quite good. Recommend letting this wine get to room temperature to fully enjoy all its flavors. (1615 views) | | Tasted by JOJ on 4/3/2013 & rated 94 points: Spectacular chardonnay. Luscious aromas of melon, pineapple and white peach, with notes of creme brulee and toast. On the palate, green apple, melon, nutmeg and baking spice. Nice acidity and a long finish. Good stuff. (1257 views) | | Tasted by Blcmdpa@gmail.com on 10/7/2012 & rated 91 points: tired and listless, not oxidized but finished. Not enough livliness to cary the oak and carmel, buyt still pleasent, just not spectacular. (1465 views) | | Tasted by ljl203 on 3/4/2012 & rated 92 points: Very enjoyable. Butter, hazelnuts, pineapple, cream. Not a huge mineral streak but perfect balance. (1890 views) | | Tasted by Racer117 on 12/18/2011 & rated 89 points: This wine opened with a green nose. It reminded me of nice cut green grass aromas I get in some Sauv. Blancs. Flavors of ripe and unripe tropical fruits. Long sugary sweet finish. I'd like it to have a touch more acidity but very good and balanced nonetheless. (2012 views) | | Tasted by Schiffy on 11/25/2011 & rated 90 points: Rich full flavored buttery notes along with crisp apple dominate the flavors of this Chardonnay. Full bodied and strong weight make this wine unique relative to other Chardonnay's. While I like this wine, it is not for everyone, particularly if you like white wines with greater "crisp" to them. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Sonoma CountyMendocino CountyRussian River Valley Russian River Valley Winegrowers Association | Wikipedia |
