Tasted by yorkch on 4/12/2024 & rated 93 points: Delicious- give it another 10 years and it will be a knock-out wine. Tried it in zalto Universal - much more refined if a little muted. Reidel Vinum - more tannins present and lots more blue/black fruit. For me, it’s not worth the money compared to other Cornas - Vincent Paris’s range is much less expensive and can be wonderful.  Tasted by Zorg on 1/13/2024: Coravin. Very good. Blind I would have said Rhone but couldn't have said if it was northern or southern, but if I had had to choose I would have said southern. 91 p. (785 views)
Tasted by Slaz on 12/14/2023 & rated 92 points: Some of the most delightful floral notes on the nose. This is running out of gas, however, on the palate---tannins are mellow and well-integrated as expected, acidity is becoming too low, secondary fruit notes start to emerge in full but in ways that taste almost oxidized and unbalanced. Drink up this beauty soon, in my opinion. (1001 views)
Tasted by chicsucre on 10/15/2023: Deep ruby with rim variation
On the nose started off bloody, meaty, smoky
Need a steak lol
1.5h in a tiny bit of rose petals out, black peppers
On the palate, satin texture, olives
Longgg finish

Tasted by dk563 on 8/18/2023 & rated 95 points: Extremely good after 2 hours of decanting. Rose petals shine, lilac, red and purple fruit, a bit of wildness. Just a really really good expression of cornas. (1282 views)
Tasted by henryd1 on 8/11/2023 & rated 92 points: Short decanted. On the nose it's smoky, mineral, lots of cassis, and some leather. The palate has creamy soft black fruit - lovely. Improves with air. Longish decant recommended. 92 today but potential for 94 with proper decant and another few years of bottle age. (1181 views)
Tasted by LFCHALA on 2/2/2023 & rated 95 points: Astonishing (1304 views)
Tasted by NostraBacchus on 2/11/2022 & rated 95 points: Deep purple color. Notes of cassis, dark cherries, crushed violets, also some red berries, smoke, leather, some pepper, horsesaddle and some savory herbs. It‘s medium-full bodied, pretty dense and powerful, with medium-high acidity and medium+ tannin that is showing excellent quality. This is starting to be in a really good place. A very nice, complex and fresh Cornas from this excellent producer.. (2957 views)
Tasted by henryd1 on 5/8/2021 & rated 91 points: Pretty good. Soft, smooth, great balance, but lacking a little depth, concentration, and mystique. (3028 views)
Tasted by javierbb on 4/24/2021 & rated 92 points: No le han sentado bien los años, muy corto en boca.... (2846 views)
Tasted by Burgundy Al on 4/1/2021 flawed bottle: Great Cornas Virtual Tasting (Chicagoland IL): Seemed fine when opened at 4:30, dirty when tasted at 7, corky when re-tasted at 8:30. some thought it more bretty, but more corkiness is emerging. (3837 views)
Tasted by Wine Warrior 1 on 1/29/2021 & rated 95 points: Absolutely delicious. Needs 2 hour min decant. Classic Cornas!! (2781 views)
Tasted by NostraBacchus on 1/12/2021 & rated 95 points: Still slightly closed aromatically, but showing class already, as well as amazing mouthfeel and tons of elegance. Notes of cassis, dark cherries, also some red berries, smoke, leather, some pepper, horsesaddle, but also crushed violets, some roasted herbs too. It‘s medium-full bodied, dense and powerful, with medium-high acidity and medium-high tannin that is showing excellent quality and ripeness. It might still take a moment to integrate completely. Good length.
This might still be 2-3 years away from optimal drinking but already really beautiful. (2934 views)
Tasted by JimSlatin on 12/25/2020 & rated 92 points: decanted and drank over 3-4 hours; Took time to open up even a little, ; graphite, dark fruit, cooking spice, and an earthiness the was deep; ; very dark which I was I expect from Cornas; The dark fruit, pepper, and meatiness started to come through, but it took some time; I have one bottle left and I will wait another 5 years at least to see how it evolves (1686 views)
Tasted by french16 on 7/17/2020: What a great syrah. Meaty, smoky, violets. Definitely on the rustic side but very balanced. Very inky, ashy. Full body. Classic Cornas.
Med body, integrated tannins. It was quite open but I can see this ageing while improving for a good 5-8 years. (2003 views)
Tasted by psi on 5/22/2020 & rated 94 points: This was a stunning wine. Mature and pleasing, meaty and elegant. Bravo (1928 views)
Tasted by tziemer on 7/25/2019 & rated 92 points: Need more time to improve, very close on the aromas but pleasant in the taste. (3152 views)
Tasted by urbanfarmer9@gmail.com on 2/1/2019 & rated 91 points: Agree needs some air but half hour or hour minimum suffices and will soften over time; good insistent gritty Cornas with lovely generous fruit. Best with food of course. A treat. Rating is partly deliciousness but also frustrating rarity of north Rhône in marketplace. (3770 views)
Tasted by Enfantterrible on 4/17/2018 & rated 91 points: Opened in the morning, recorked, then decanted for over 2 hours before the first glass. Very open. Much more fruit than I was expecting, but still with harmony and balance. 3rd of 6 bottles consumed, paired with beautiful ribeye and fillet. Great night with friends (4840 views)
Tasted by ccsargent on 9/5/2017 & rated 94 points: Decanted for two hours... beautiful open nose of berry fruit and a bit of pepper. Absolutely delicious on the palate - great acidity and juiciness. Worth the price of admission! (5190 views)
Tasted by henryd1 on 2/18/2017 & rated 91 points: Decanted 3 hours. Medium complexity on the nose. More fruity than spicy or minerally, but the tanins are quite soft and the balance is pretty good. Not bad at all but certainly nothing special. Totally over-rated by Parker (as usual). Disappointed as I have quite a few more botlles. May improve marginally. (5343 views)
Tasted by azzah on 7/4/2016 & rated 82 points: Brett. Such a shame as the underlying fruit was of such a high quality. But just overcome. (6020 views)
Tasted by mattias_hansen@hotmail.com on 6/10/2016 & rated 95 points: Give this one a good decant if you want to sample it now. Very high class syrah, in a very primary but accessible stage as long as you dont mind tannin and acid. Bursting with blackberry and pepper on the nose and palate, layered, with high extract yet never cloying or particularly ripe. intense but not overdone. The structure is in the forefront showing an impressive scale to this Syrah. Finish is long with dusty fruit and grippy tannin. I will leave my few other bottles alone for 3 years atleast
EDIT: On day two this sings!!! The tannins are now finely grained and more in the background. The primary fruit is still there but there is more barnyard, more soil, more licorice on the palate and the finish is long and delish! (5249 views)
Tasted by NostraBacchus on 4/10/2016 & rated 95 points: Decanted for 2 hours. Opaque purple color. Very elegant and pretty complex aromatics of cassis, blackberries, licorice, also some red berries, beef, leather, olives, some flowers, crushed rocks and a touch of smoke and pepper. It's full bodied, dense but has that beautiful polish the best Northern Rhône Syrahs have, has pretty high, juicy acidity and medium-high tannin that is silky. Good length. A very pretty, elegant and polished Cornas from this great producer and vintage. (5266 views)
Tasted by Necowine on 9/17/2015 & rated 87 points: Unremarkable, even tasted four times over four days. (4509 views)

Varietal article (Wikipedia) | (Wines Northwest)

Note that some producers in the Northern Rhone distinguish between simply Syrah and "Serine", the latter described as ‘an ancient clone of Syrah, the berries of which are more oval-shaped and less deeply pigmented than Syrah’ by producer Tardieu-Laurent.

Northern Rhône

Guide to the wines and appellations of the Northern Rhone Valley -

The Rhône Valley/Le Vins de la Vallée du Rhône (Comité Interprofession des vins AOC Côtes et vallée du Rhône)

Regional History:
Phocaean Greeks established viticulture in the Rhone as far back as 600 BC, but until the 14th century the wines were not seen outside the region. The establishment of the Avignonese Papacy (1305-1377) brought fame to the region's wine-so much so that their Burgundian neighbors to the north banned wines from the Rhone in 1446, a measure that effectively cut off trade with England and other Northern European markets for over 200 years. Stretching southward from Lyon to just south of Avignon, the Rhone produces a wide variety of wines, with the appellations north of Valence producing the least (in volume), and the towns south of Montelimar producing prodigious amounts. As in other regions, the most interesting wines come from small farms. Saint-Joseph, in the northern Rhone, extends for some distance between Condrieu in the north to Saint-Peray in the south. The reds are made from Syrah and the rare whites from Marsanne and Roussanne, and Viognier.
