Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 91 pts. and median of 91 pts. in 178 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by lightning on 6/11/2021 & rated 80 points: Simple grapefruit aromas, low acid and lacks refreshment factor now, with a bitter note sitting heavy and unbalanced on the midpalate. After one glass, couldn't be bothered with it anymore and poured the rest down the sink.

(Professionally cellared since release). (1298 views)
Tasted by gukarl on 1/9/2021 & rated 91 points: Mature but still fruit left. Complex but drinks well now and shows the storage potential for Tempier Rose. (1446 views)
Tasted by Raage on 7/9/2020 & rated 91 points: CDV
(1783 views)
Tasted by Montecalvo on 3/1/2020 & rated 88 points: fully mature. never had a rose that old before. was more interesting than enjoyable. color was dark than normal for this wine. nose had a hint of oxidation but still had fruit present. acid had diminished. (1726 views)
Tasted by galewskj on 9/9/2018 & rated 91 points: Steve makes Brisket; 9/9/2018-9/11/2018 (Steve and Jennie's): This was a real treat to try, as I've never had an older Tempier Bandol rose. The difference is evident. Some freshness has been lost, and there is a lot more depth. The fruit is rounder and richer. There is a touch of oxidation, but not much, and at this stage, it adds interest. The person who brought this wine believed that this was about as long as you want to keep this wine, and I could agree with that. (2484 views)
Tasted by dlduchon on 8/10/2017 & rated 88 points: Purchased at the winery and cellared since. Armagnac and Sherry on the nose. Fruit is faded but flavors are still delicious. Wonderful aged rose. It would be interesting even older, but I love a fresh Tempier rosé. (2525 views)
Tasted by Cote d'Or on 6/21/2017: -translucent orange/copper
-slight nuttiness, roasted peach
-med+ fresh acidity, all savory now with a trace bitter note on finish
-evolved with very little fruit remaining but interesting savory complexity (2665 views)
(2772 views)
Tasted by MrMoose on 8/16/2016 & rated 90 points: elegant style w/plenty of time to evolve for a rose.... (3041 views)
Tasted by Lord Rodney on 7/13/2016 & rated 89 points: Bit bitter this bottle - The last was better (2935 views)
Tasted by Lyubomir Lefterov on 5/6/2016 & rated 93 points: If this is not the best rose I've tasted it is sure in top3.
Nice copper-y nuances in the color. The nose is a bit restrained, but it is usually the case with Provence. In the mouth, medium weighted, salty, mineral and savory. Very complex with depth and structure. Just close your eyes and feel that Provence coast line. (2302 views)
Tasted by Cote d'Or on 4/18/2016: PopnPour, tasted over 2 hrs
-translucent med orange/peach
-waxy creamy melon
-med acidity, med- weight subtle melon herbal/savory bit of bitter on finish
-has lost some freshness over the years but still doing quite well (2118 views)
Tasted by arthrovine on 4/2/2016 & rated 92 points: Drank from a 375mL. This is still singing. I will be drinking mine within the next 12 mos. (2140 views)
Tasted by Vini Ciclismo on 1/24/2016 & rated 93 points: Magnum.
Such a beautiful wine. Fresh, crisp, superb complexity, a delight. (1991 views)
Tasted by Buick455 on 12/22/2015 & rated 89 points: Last bottle. It was still a very pleaseant rose, however not the fresh version when it was nearly new. More mature notes. Nice. (1730 views)
Tasted by Mprats on 7/19/2015: In my opinion it is no longer drinkable at this point. I had three bottles left from this year and all of the tasted musty, vinegary. (2088 views)
Tasted by Zweder on 7/6/2015: Weekly tasting group #174; A mixed set: white, red and sweet. (@ RW with a BBQ): The bouquet is not very expressive but shows some rose buds. On the palate some small red fruits, nicely dry with pleasant acidity and bitterness. Very harmonious and tasty. The Rosé fans around the table were very enthousiastic. (2556 views)
Tasted by vanpe003 on 6/30/2015: Not really my style. A bit more savory, meaty than I prefer for a summer quaffer. But, given that, it's very nicely balanced at present, with acids nicely in check against abundant fruit. 90 points for what it is. This would have been better served with a thoughtful food pairing. It is not one for a 80 degree day on the boat. (2276 views)
Tasted by gukarl on 6/3/2015 & rated 90 points: Nydelig kobberrød farge. Flott vin, selv etter 4 år. Fersken på duft, samt noe mer modne aromaer. Flott fedme i munnen og lang ettersmak. Kvalitetsrose som tåler noen år. (2221 views)
Tasted by Bakerbd on 3/28/2015 & rated 92 points: Peaches, wild strawberries, garrigue. Med + acid, still so fresh at 4 yrs old. (2319 views)
Tasted by Cote d'Or on 3/16/2015: -translucent copper pink
-peach, savory, herbal
-med+ acidity, sappy mid-palate with some residual fruit amidst savory elements, decent complexity and length
-still drinking very well, much better than the last bottle (1759 views)
Tasted by portman63 on 3/1/2015 & rated 91 points: Light salmon as usual. Still had strawberry and hibiscus on the nose. Quite bright fruit and minerals and acidity on the palate. Still going strong at 3+ years. I think these will keep and show more on the finish than some may guess for an average rose. Drink for another year or so is my impression. (1978 views)
Tasted by JerM on 12/21/2014: (Christmas.Brunner) Light orange in glass, soft fruit, savoury with clean acids and gentle sweetness. Easy drinking with our mee-goreng. (1849 views)
Tasted by Cote d'Or on 12/14/2014: A little flabbier than the last bottle with less fruit and more savory elements starting to appear. (1998 views)
Tasted by Weston3220 on 10/11/2014: Our last bottle so sad as it was also delicious would you expect anything else? (2079 views)

Domaine Tempier

Producer website

U.S. Importer (Addt'l Info)

Domaine Tempier is located at Le Plan du Castellet. Its vineyards stretch over three different communities- Le Castellet, Le Beausset and La Cadière. The plots of land are thus far apart and require extra work. But the soil of these different areas yield distinctive cuvées -Spéciale, Migoua, Tourtine and Cabassaou - as well as interesting and complex blends for white, rosé and red wines.
Domaine Tempier owns 30 hectares. It produces AOC Bandol exclusively - an average of 68% red, 29% rosé and 3% white wines, approximately 120,000 bottles per year
