Tasted by Handy1 on 4/6/2024 & rated 95 points: Decanted an hour. Nice cassis, smooth good fruit. Tannins resolved pretty much. Drinking very nice no reason to hold as think fruit will fade (62 views)
Tasted by MAXIMUM SATISFACTION on 4/16/2023 & rated 94 points: Opened in the bottle for a few hours. Good but slightly artificial. Sweet cherry, cedar, tobacco…. Drink now. Really tough one for the price. (915 views)
Tasted by bmartz1 on 12/25/2020 & rated 95 points: Perfect accompaniment to prime rib for Xmas dinner. Very likely in prime drinking window. Decanted out of a mag for 3hrs before serving. Dare I say this was somewhat restrained for a Hundred Acre: thinner mouthfeel, less fruit forward and more leather and minerality on back end. Still lush and long, but as much the dominant characteristic. Nice change of pace. (1617 views)
Tasted by FoinZap on 6/3/2020 & rated 97 points: Popped and poured, then decanter. Wonderful. Elegant nose of black fruit and earth. Flavors of black cherry, toffee, mocha, very subtle green note. Silky smooth mouth feel mid- to full-bodied. Excellent balance and integration. Nice sweet spot between subtlety and power. Highly recommend. (1665 views)
Tasted by mrsl500 on 3/7/2020 & rated 98 points: Equal to BEST wine ever drank. Even after being wined out drinking/tasting over 20 high quality Napa Cabs - kept coming back to F&FB and tasted great - Good linerarity even though round - Finish was as long or longer than any wine. Velvet and Smooth. (1688 views)
Tasted by LB88 on 2/9/2020 & rated 94 points: Nice nose, well resolved tannins, lovely drink. (1694 views)
Tasted by jcampano on 6/20/2018 & rated 98 points: With short rib pappardelle, the 2009 Few & Far Between was a near perfect wine. A gorgeous nose of blackberry and cherry fruit, you could taste this wine before it hit your palate! A long smooth finish after complex flavors of oak and dark fruit! (2899 views)
Tasted by jonnyoro on 8/23/2017 & rated 99 points: Damn near perfect... (3081 views)
Tasted by silverburst on 6/17/2017 & rated 93 points: 2 hour decant more concentrated than '08 but lacking the back end of the '08. Well balanced, as always with Hundred Acre. My knock on this wine is the lack of tannins/finish. (2777 views)
Tasted by Bcw1989 on 5/14/2017 & rated 90 points: Fruit was upfront and really delicious at the beginning. However, this wine did not open up much with food and after being open for several hours. This is unusual for Hundred Acre wines. Hard to score higher. Hoping it was a flaw in this bottle. (2642 views)
Tasted by ntrubee on 2/15/2016 & rated 85 points: Maybe it was flawed based on the price and hype. Will try another bottle soon. Zero nose. Very smooth in the mouth with good balance. And a decent finish. We had this with a '12 Janzen MIssouri hopper and an 06 quilceda cab and both blew this away in all aspects. The hopper was the best by a nose (4086 views)
Tasted by bmartz1 on 6/20/2015 & rated 94 points: Lush, hedonistic, everything you expect from Jayson's wines. (3479 views)
Tasted by thi nguyen on 8/23/2014 & rated 95 points: After 3 hour wine open up .red fruit peppery chewy layer by layer long finish but I like the ark ( ark more balance more deep)
Man but after 6 hour wine open it's incredible I pump it up from 93 to 95 point .
The wine looks ruby colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like forest floor, forest floor and black pepper. The body is medium. The wine has leathery texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has medium acidity. (3729 views)
Tasted by peterk on 8/15/2013 & rated 94 points: Consistently wonderful - last bottle! (4742 views)
Tasted by peterk on 8/10/2013 & rated 94 points: Consistent with earlier in the week - yum! (4044 views)
Tasted by peterk on 8/6/2013 & rated 94 points: Decanted for 8 hours and drank it alongside a 2001 Shafer Hillside (the star of the evening) and 1986 Caymus Special Selection, both courtesy of JimN (thankyouthankyou!). Incredibly dark, rich, deep wine with a long, lingering finish. Will certainly improve with time, but why wait. (3217 views)
Tasted by CK6865 on 2/4/2013 & rated 98 points: Decanted for 6 hours, nice deep pour , what a great wine very smooth , with a great finish , loved this wine (3568 views)
Tasted by thatrick on 12/27/2012 & rated 97 points: Wow what a wonderful wine. This was very enjoyable and well made in a soft, delicate, and sexy style. Smooth and silky from start to finish. If you are looking for in your face big Cali Cab then this wine is NOT for you. (3082 views)

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
