Tasted by isaacjamesbaker on 8/22/2022 & rated 92 points: This showed wonderfully! I was surprised that it had the grip and tightness that it still did, but also quite expressive. Beautiful nose of tart strawberries and raspberries, dusty earth, spicy pepper, some mushroom and fennel elements, dried rose petals and clove. The palate shows nice grip and bright acidity, with plenty of juicy raspberry and cherry fruit to go. Complex elements of beef broth, mushroom, pepper, rose hips. Maintains a zippy, spicy appeal that I just love. (272 views)
Tasted by fred o. on 9/1/2020: Very light transparent slightly browned crimson. Nose some red berries.
Palate a bit of tannins. Some red cherry, pronounced earthiness. Herbal. Mint per others.

More tertiary than I expected but an interesting and dare-I-say soulful wine. would pair well with rustic French food. 91 pts (233 views)
Tasted by ccn on 8/20/2019 & rated 89 points: This has improved a lot over several years and is at peak now. Very pale red fading around the disc to rust/orange. Mature and interesting nose. Fresh, with nice acidity framing bramble fruit and secondary/tertiary flavours. A tiny hint of reduction. (665 views)
Tasted by henrygjeffreys on 8/3/2018: Juicy cherry and raspberry fruit, so fresh and vibrant, really like biting into red berries, some earthy leather notes and just a little firm tannin on the finish.
Utterly delightful, really not showing its age at all. (1230 views)
Tasted by ccn on 12/23/2016 & rated 88 points: Very pleasant wine, particularly with food. Tart red fruit, perhaps cranberry; good balance. Did not develop after 3 hours in a decanter. Good winemaking but lacks length/depth/complexity to merit a higher score. (1026 views)
Tasted by tdelorme on 6/27/2016: Wow -- quintessential example of Trousseau and the Jura. This still pretty tightly wound and needs time, but this has all the goods. Tragic to think Puffeney's wines will no longer be made -- I can only hope I can conserve what wines I have for many years to come -- they are cherished bottles in my collection. Delicious.  Tasted by 14frimaire on 8/24/2013: Now that is a beautiful bottle of wine. A lovely example, showing well. (2444 views)
Tasted by Beerzebub on 4/14/2013: Decanted a couple hours. Restrained nose of strawberryish red fruit, orange peel, black pepper, earth and herbs. Tart cranberry-strawberry-pomegranate on the palate, with mineral earth, pepper, dried herbs, and orange peel. Great acidity. Pure, weightless, and delicious. Really nice wine.

Drinking even better after 5 hours in the decanter, more aromatic and more fruit. Delicious. (2451 views)
Tasted by Chomsky on 3/9/2013: Great iteration of this Trousseau, all red cherry and cranberry and pith and dirt. Drained very quickly and happily by a group of non-geeks. (2599 views)
Tasted by Spurls on 2/9/2013 & rated 92 points: One of my favs right now. Super pure and complex. Peppery, earthy red fruits galore. Highly recommended! (2317 views)
Tasted by jibby on 11/17/2012 & rated 90 points: Sour berries: cranberry, pomegranate. A touch of mushrooms. Low tannins. Fairly high acidity that captures your senses for a long time in the finish. Light-medium bodied, heftier than other Jura Trousseau's that I've tried. (2579 views)
Tasted by liteagilis on 10/18/2012 & rated 92 points: Wow.
Not sure exactly what to make of it. On night one it was wound so tight. Sour. Angry. Super-structured. Red fruits and really herbal. Very high acid and a bit of grab. Quality for sure, pleasant, not so much. Sat on my counter 5 nights. Forgot about it. When it wss about to get in the kitchen vat I tried it. Soft round fruit. Still delicious, much better than the first night. THis seems to have gobs of potential, and long lasting potential at that.... (1886 views)
Tasted by tdelorme on 8/25/2012: 2010 is the first vintage (of the 6 i have had) where i have equal amounts of love for Puffeney's Trousseau and Poulsard....though i might give a nod to the Trousseau...on second thought, the Poulsard....it's close (I think it is the Trousseau by a nod). Both have really beautiful and bright red fruit. I was a little surprised they were so similar in weight. I might prefer the flavor profile on the Trousseau, but love the acid of the Poulsard. Both are delicious -- and textbook examples of the varietal, region -- and demonstrate why Jura has captured the fascination of so many. (1808 views)
Tasted by decaturwinedude on 8/12/2012 & rated 90 points: Pale red. Smells of fresh berries, bbq meat, and wet grass. Palate shows ripe, but lightweight berry favors cut nicely with some bright acid. It's earthy, and iron-h, too. Lively and game. Terrific lasting impression on the palate without any really clumsiness. Burgundian in that way, to me. Good stuff. (1759 views)

Trousseau

Trousseau (also called "Bastardo") is a dark-skinned wine grape originally from Jura, northeastern France, but which has made its way over the centuries to vineyards in northwestern Spain and various parts of Portugal. As one might expect of a well-traveled variety with a long history, it goes by various names, the most notable of which are Bastardo (Portugal), Merenzao and Verdejo Negro (Spain).

Wines made from Trousseau typically have a deep cherry-red color and flavors redolent of dark red berries and other forest fruits. They also tend to be powerfully alcoholic, thanks to the prolific natural sugars of the Trousseau berry and their correspondingly high potential alcohol.

Jura

A petite and relatively obscure wine region in eastern France, between Burgundy and the Swiss border. Its geographical isolation has helped it to remain a rare bastion of traditional winemaking techniques, and today it produces some of the most distinctive wines in the world. Reds from the Jura are often light-bodied, earthy, berried, and reminiscent of the village wines of Burgundy (though here they are made of local grapes like Poulsard and Trousseau). While Chardonnay features widely, the true specialty of the region is the Vin Jaune (“yellow wine”) made from the white Savagnin grape. Cloudy, difficult Vin Jaune is made only in the best vintages, and must be aged for at least six years before being released. As it ages under a layer of yeast, known locally as “voile,” the wine slowly oxidizes, leading to complex aromas and flavors that range from walnut skin to sultana to spices and truffles. Famously long lived it is always sold in dumpy 62 cl bottle - the wine lost in production having been taken by les anges.
