Tasted by Winevestor on 3/27/2024 & rated 90 points: I lost this in the cellar, but although at end of its drinking window it was still fun to drink. The Sicilian reds all have that medium body feel and are light on their feet, but give good flavor and complexity. Interesting looking at my old TN: the wine has developed, lost its cola, and gained some weight. Interesting. (45 views)
Tasted by havarhar on 6/10/2023 & rated 91 points: Rubinrød fargesterk, klar, med litt orange tone.
Lukter av modne kirsebær, med litt syre. Litt alderspreg.
Velbalansert og behagelig i munnen. Fyldig. Passe med syre. Ørlite tanniner i avslutningen. Lang. En vin som har klart seg fint med litt largring. (125 views)
Tasted by JVG on 9/10/2017: Cherry red color. Very interesting nose. It’s a little reserved, so you have to work at it a bit. But there are some high-toned red fruit aromas of sour cherry, raspberry, and cranberry, as well as a sort of vegetal/herbal character that is just as strong as the fruit but very tough to identify. Kind of a green tomato-leaf/tobacco/chervil sort of thing, as well as some miso. Also a touch of floral perfume and a very, very faint funkiness. On the palate, it’s a little more straighforward, mostly fruit, a touch of the herbal notes, and a mineral taste that seems almost wrapped up in or a part of the texture, which is maybe the most striking part—medium weight and refined, but almost like very finely sanded wood rather than the usual velvet or silk you’d normally think of. Hard to describe. The finish is sour cherry and earth, and long.

This is really good. Distinctive, tasty, easy to drink, complex, and just the right amount of weird. I really enjoy it. (1965 views)
Tasted by Mpeshoo on 12/29/2016: Not for me. (2122 views)
Tasted by retired_and_roving on 12/9/2016: From the glass list at Gramercy Tavern (NYC). This was my husband's glass which I tasted, and as I suspected the Frappato hit me dead on the nose. Something really super duper tutti-frutti about the smell of Frappato that I just cannot stand. The nose gives it away for me every time. Very fruit forward but light bodied wine. Not my wheelhouse at all - so a pass for me. (2140 views)
Tasted by VDLT Wine on 1/16/2015: Something strange going on here. First pour was about as alive and scrumptious a mouthful of super fresh strawberries one could imagine. As we progressed, it kept showing vague signs of TCA, the fruit receded and the pleasure quotient dropped. Unusual for a corked wine not to get progressively worse, so maybe something else is afoot. This is a wine with modest if any preservatives. Not unenjoyable. (3203 views)
Tasted by havarhar on 6/28/2014 & rated 89 points: Lys rødlilla farge. Fruktig. Lett syrlig. Lettdrikkelig. (3007 views)
Tasted by Christoffer78 on 4/26/2014 & rated 92 points: A beautiful blend of Frappato and Nero d'Avola, this 2011 Cos Pithos exhibits multi layered nose which shows layer after layer of complexity. When the corked is popped here is an adorable nose full of sour cherry, white almonds and stunning fruit. After a while a strong tone of wet earth and the amazing lava tone emerges. This is followed by smoky tar and after yet another few minutes the most stunningly clean red elegant fruit makes an entrance. This is a stunning nose!

The palate is a bit thin and at first does not deliver on the nose, but after a while and with food it certainly does. The elegant acidity paired with immense texture and soft almost invisible tannins is stunning also to heavier foods. After a couple of hours the nose and palate is a beautiful whole - so full of terroir and character I am quite amazed.

This wine was a true gem and a pleasure to drink - without the slightest doubt. (2625 views)
Tasted by rayq on 4/13/2014 & rated 91 points: Light red. Slightly lifted nose.
On the palate it's red fruited, bright and lively.
A touch 'sappy'. Refreshing and moreish. Nice summer drinking red.
Might gain some complexity? but drinks well now.
More accessible (mainstream) than I was expecting. Recommended. (2161 views)
Tasted by havarhar on 4/5/2014 & rated 90 points: Åpnet og helt på karafell en time før middag. (1712 views)
Tasted by Employee500 on 2/28/2014 & rated 91 points: Definite brett here, but not too dominating. Light and elegant wine with cranberry and tart cherry. Juicy and food friendly. (1541 views)
Tasted by FjordogFjell on 2/1/2014 & rated 89 points: Til pasta og andebryst. 2,5 time i karaffel har gjordt godt. Så god at det ble lite notater. 1 dag i åpen flaske: Tang og rosiner på nesen, har eldes i løpet av ett døgn, men ikke oksidert. Rosiner ala St. John. (510 views)
Tasted by Jeffyboy on 12/13/2013 & rated 89 points: Beutiful cherry colour. Nose: some haw, some blood, herbs; excellent. Taste: very lightbodied with good tannins; nice tartness. Great expression of nero and frappato. (1648 views)
Tasted by guitarkim on 11/3/2013 & rated 89 points: Again: nice! (1093 views)
Tasted by psmith on 9/8/2013 & rated 90 points: Bright red fruits; red cherry, rhubarb, and smokey notes. Earthy palate. Clay. Medium bodied. Hard grape tannin backbone. Classy. Very nice. (1580 views)
Tasted by Al Ehrhardt on 8/30/2013: I have had an increased fascination with Sicilian wines the past few years. This is only the second COS bottling that I have had (the other being the similar 2008 Cos Cerasuolo di Vittoria Classico drank in Italy). I liked this a lot, bright dark red fruits, nervy acidity, some funk, a bit smokey, and wild herbs. Nice med body (big enough for my nebbiolo/pinot palate). I haven't had one of Arianna's SP68's in several months to compare. Fun and different. Glad to have more and will keep this on my radar for future vintages. (1165 views)
Tasted by FjordogFjell on 7/12/2013 & rated 89 points: Feristart og grill-pizza, Trenger 2-3 timer i åpen flaske. Sorbits ved første sniff i glasset. Fin og elegant me blåbær, nesten burgund, nype (511 views)
Tasted by coremill on 6/23/2013 & rated 91 points: Ripe blackberry fruit with a nice reddish acid streak, and a tremendous earthy and herbal character that makes you feel like you're standing in a recently plowed field. Enough structure to hold it all together but the tannins are ripe and smooth. Complex and delicious. (1450 views)
Tasted by Winevestor on 6/2/2013 & rated 90 points: A different polarizing wine. Some will love it, some hate it. I love it. This is a natural wine and it shows. There is a little frizzante, but the biggest taste is a cola flavor. After that the natural blue fruit shows throught. It is strangely fulfilling. It is a weird dichotomy; totally natural wine making with a strangely synthetic (cola) taste whilst keeping fruit pure. (1105 views)
