Tasted by jbaron on 9/28/2023 & rated 92 points: From a 750: still quite good, if a bit aged. The nose is only okay, but the mouth is good and the length is very good. Ripe white fruit. (441 views)
Tasted by lltl2021 on 12/5/2022 & rated 91 points: Drink from 375: medium body, strong petrol on the nose but nothing at all on the palate. Very rounded wine with mainly pineapple, citrus and mineral on the palate. High acidity. Still has the potential to improve. (801 views)
Tasted by cct on 7/15/2022 & rated 93 points: From 375 A ripe but not overripe nose, with orchard fruit, honeydew melon, florals, stone, and honey, On the palate, it's full bodied and beautifully balanced: ripe, with plenty of dry extract and density, and if its acidity and minerality were not so beautiful balanced it could seem fat. That said, this has terrific acid, fruit, and soil balance. Baroque yet deftly balanced and detailed. Grand Cru intensity and impact delivered with poise. Finishes very long with some kaffir lime and oyster shell adding to the whole. Outstanding. Drinking very well but I can't think of a reason to wait. 93 (1243 views)
Tasted by Dale M on 12/26/2020 & rated 94 points: My last bottle from Xmas in 2018 was pretty advanced so it was with more than a little trepidation when I poured this – once I saw the color, huge relief, this was good to go. At 15 years in, this (sound bottle ) is in a really lovely spot, more soil than citrus, the acidity has neatly folded into the overall frame work of the wine creating a balanced, almost round feel. Still, a confident and sure finish still has some muscle and power, but the descriptors ‘elegant’ and ‘classy’ poppped into my brain every time I took a sip. Just lovely. (1821 views)
Tasted by blanquito on 12/25/2020 & rated 94 points: With dungeness crab clusters to start and baked Arctic char for the main, a simply brilliant bottle of the 2005 Weinbach Schlossberg Cuvee Ste Catherine Riesling at its apogee. Quite dry, redolent of steel, old limes, flint, oxidized honey, but still fresh. Tangy, layered, long, bone dry but with loads of richness, I’m in love. (1751 views)
Tasted by dougsmith on 9/11/2020 & rated 92 points: Still singing, still youthful. Some petrol notes coming out as well. (1551 views)
Tasted by jbaron on 5/23/2020 & rated 92 points: Good. Structured. This one tastes almost like it’s just bottled: reticent, full, fruity, structured, hidden. (1432 views)
Tasted by ILarsen on 12/21/2019 & rated 92 points: Drinking well - petroleum nose and a lot of oxidation - a very complex wine - se my last rating. (1475 views)
| Tasted by ILarsen on 11/1/2019 & rated 92 points: After having three bottles that was not drinkable - this one is very good again - you are back to the petroleum nose - a very complex palette with apple, pineapple , citrus, honey, some spices and creaminess - the balance is good - and I am happy to rate it 92. | Tasted by ILarsen on 7/12/2019 & rated 92 points: Not a lot to add to my note from earlier this year - the wine is still drinking well. (1359 views) |
Tasted by ILarsen on 5/30/2019 & rated 92 points: The petroleum nose is clear. The palette is complex you get apple, pineapple, citrus, honey and some creaminess - good perfect balance - and there is still a lot of freshness - staying at 92 (1313 views)
| Tasted by dlduchon on 3/2/2019 & rated 92 points: I drank this with poke and a dozen oysters. I purchased this wine at the winery and have cold cellared since. I did not detect any petrol on the nose. This wine was minerally, and crisp with still a hit of front of front end fruit to keep it all in balance. A dry style, as some of the Weinbachs can move into the perception of sweetness category when the get to the richer bottlings. Lovely wine with a lot of life to go for properly cellared wines. | Tasted by Dale M on 12/25/2018 flawed bottle: Sadly, this bottle is exactly as described by ArtF except it was a 750ML not 375. Advanced but drinkable, which in a way was all the more shame as you could get a glimpse of what could have been. To quote Brando: ‘I could have been a contender’ (1457 views) |
Tasted by sfqwino on 12/17/2018 & rated 91 points: Nice petrol and some secondary notes. Delish. I am in total agreement with ALLRED notes. Not mind blowing but the balance and harmony is impeccable. (1323 views)
Tasted by ILarsen on 12/13/2018 & rated 92 points: It is really a great wine - lots of petroleum in the nose - see my rating from august this year not a lot has changed - very solid 92 (1206 views)
Tasted by ILarsen on 11/2/2018 & rated 92 points: The nose is a lot of petroleum - and can only more or less repeat what I wrote in my last rating from August this year - It is still a great bottle of wine that I am drinking with big pleasure. (1163 views)
Tasted by cct on 9/21/2018 & rated 93 points: A steely, mineral driven nose with a little petrol. There's apple and honeydew melon fruits, but mostly this is a wall of mineral and stone. Full bodied, yet with excellent cut and acidity that keeps it balanced. It finishes with a little bitternesss like lemon pith on the back end. Mouthwatering acidity and a stony/ savoriness with a toothsome level of extract. A wine of harmonious contrasts: it is deep, full, chiseled and extracted, yet has outstanding focus. It has breadth and richness, yet paradoxically is simultaneously chiseled and almost stern. A rock head's wine. Very long on the back end and finishes with oyster shell, citrus and saltiness. Drinking at peak with no fear of a decline soon. (65 views) (1442 views)
Tasted by concord on 9/8/2018: Fully mature, but still drinking well. Drink in the next year or two. Some characteristic petrol notes, but also some grapefruit acidity. (1223 views)
Tasted by AllRed on 8/26/2018 & rated 93 points: Celebrating Judi's Birthday (Sun Wah): From magnum, courtesy of our hosts. A subtle petrol note leads the way, followed by apple, stone fruit and wet stones. Really well-balanced on the palate- fruit and acidity in absolute harmony. Long finish. Melon, apple and peach notes linger. Paired beautifully with the menu. (1465 views)

Tasted by ILarsen on 6/4/2018 & rated 92 points: The nose is honey and a hint of petroleum - the palette is apple, pineapple and citrus - great balance - the wine gives you a lot of freshness - I like it starting at a 92. (1450 views)
Tasted by xwine on 5/27/2018: At the top of its game, this was lovely. Strong mineral elements, structured, balanced. The fruit has shed its opulence and become more focused. (1470 views)
Tasted by jmoore431 on 5/16/2018 & rated 92 points: Identical character as described in my last note. Drink up in next year or so. Feel sorry for the folks having bad experiences with the half bottles but can see how they’d have crapped out by now (the half bottles!) (1684 views)
