Tasted by BcDuncan on 5/3/2021 & rated 90 points: I agree with many of the more recent comments on this wine; full bodied, dark and very good. Looks like it aged well. 17 year old wine, just kept getting better with age. (1028 views)
Tasted by Asweaverct on 2/11/2021 & rated 91 points: Very full bodied and rich. (823 views)
Tasted by JuliannaDHS on 1/19/2021 & rated 93 points: Wow! I was expecting a good wine and it was better than good. Fruit is fading but there's still plenty of dark fruit to be found. But the coffee, cocoa, and leather aromas and flavors really made this wine enjoyable. Tannins fading and acidity and alcohol in good harmony. 13.9% abv. (853 views)
Tasted by AlwaysFinishTheBottle on 3/8/2019 & rated 89 points: Saddle leather, old plums, dark fruit, solid structure. Softened quickly after opening. (1394 views)
Tasted by dyuhas on 1/19/2013 & rated 93 points: Perfectly balanced. Drank the previous bottles too early; wish I had more.

The wine looks Purple colored. It smells like Blackberry, and Dust. (4218 views)
Tasted by z_willus_d on 4/9/2011 & rated 84 points: Tasted at a poker party. Wine decanted 6-hours. Fruity nose that shed more than a hint of oak; also hints of cabernet bell pepper and a little funk. We were having a little fun guessing double-blind, and I guessed the region, style and varietal on nearly style alone. Decent red fruit up front that turns bitter with cedar-infused mouth fatigue from the excessive oak treatment. Low to medium-low acid and still some tannin showing in the oak-clipped finish. Perhaps a decent value for what it is, but this really isn't something I can drink more than a glass of with much pleasure. (4526 views)
Tasted by ed-d on 11/23/2010 & rated 85 points: Tasted blind. Slightly weedy on the nose with some pretty blackberry peeking through. Soft entry of flat black fruit that slightly watery in feel. Has some nice herbal elements & red plum flavors. Very hollow in the mid palate. (4926 views)
Tasted by jonb72 on 9/28/2010 & rated 89 points: it took about 30' to open up (5006 views)
Tasted by dstraub on 8/4/2010 & rated 87 points: Soft and fruity, but not much life left in it. Wasn't really complex, but went well with our pasta. (4902 views)
Tasted by phantphant on 1/18/2010 & rated 86 points: Fine tasting California Cab. Nothing special..nothing horrific. (2929 views)
Tasted by rcmcb on 11/27/2009 & rated 91 points: Very nice blackberry flavors. We opened this with beef tenderloin towards the end of Thanksgiving dinner. (2997 views)
Tasted by westcoastwannabe on 10/19/2009 & rated 86 points: Decent, but not outstanding. Decanted an hour before tasting, which helped the fruit and oak open up a little, but it seemed to never fully develop. Fairly short finish. (3044 views)
Tasted by skaliner on 9/29/2009 & rated 95 points: excellent cabernet...smooth yet rich in flavor (3775 views)
Tasted by rcmcb on 5/9/2009 & rated 89 points: Decent bottle. Either not as good as the others, or my palate is more developed now. My wife really liked it, but I found it to be pretty heavy on the oak. I have two left and I don't see this improving much more. (2551 views)
Tasted by rcmcb on 1/16/2009 & rated 91 points: This is a definite go-to Cabernet for $20. Consistently delicious, and I feel comfortable serving it to everyone. Great "cellar defender," but I have a few 2004s laying down, too. Better than the 2005 edition, but 2005 is good so I'm guessing that's just a product of 2004 being a great year. (2479 views)
Tasted by pkbackman on 5/1/2008 & rated 86 points: Very Good
Strawberries and milk chocolate. Mouth coating. Would definitely get again at this price point! (2844 views)
Tasted by winesteaksushi on 4/15/2008 & rated 88 points: Decanted 75 mins before tasting, paired with ribeye steak. Nose: bright, citrus, and somewhat closed. Surprisingly light on the tip of the tongue, and a medium body on the mid-palate. Finish is tannic with a very smooth fruit flavor, and it lasts for over 90 seconds. Since this is somewhat early to drink a 2004 Napa Cab, the rating reflects the future potential of this bottle, as the nose and fruit seem not fully developed. (2649 views)
Tasted by Pat & Jen B on 12/16/2007 & rated 90 points: Consistently one of our favorites in the $20 range (available on sale for $16ish). Pairs very nicely with a sharp cheddar, colby, or of course, steak. (3143 views)
Tasted by french16 on 11/22/2007 & rated 86 points: Straight forward. Too fruity and too concentrated for my taste. (3002 views)

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
