Deep and flavorful without showing any sign of ripeness, this has an intensity and overall balance I can't say I've seen from any other California Chardonnay. No obvious oak, perfect acidity. I can only describe this as Meursault on steroids. (3988 views) | | Tasted by pgordon62 on 1/23/2009 & rated 93 points: Same superb vitality as previous tastings. I love the way this developed over a couple hours adding a delightful sweet earthiness and yeasty dough note. Exquisite balance. It was like a beautiful scene hidden by clouds; the nose was not as flamboyant but it still showed creamy lemon. The mouthfeel was heavy in the mid-palate, but there was substantial acidity to balance it out. (4187 views) | | Tasted by nomadfromcincy on 3/9/2008: this was my 3rd bottle of this wine and it continues to impress me. beautiful, rich creamy lemon nose. the palate has wonderful balance of acidity and fruit, and the finish keeps on keeping on. (4355 views) | | Tasted by chetlee on 3/6/2008 & rated 93 points: Just drank my last bottle. Everybody in the group agreed that this was one of the best California chardonnays they had recently. Bright, balanced, with good acid, and lemon flavors and minerality. I look forward to the next vintage. (4255 views) | | Tasted by nomadfromcincy on 2/19/2008: I refuse to give this wine a score because I don't want people to know how good I think it is. Light color - big nose of lemon peel, creaminess and minerality. The palate has rich citrus flavors and great acidity that is perfect for food. (2733 views) | | Tasted by pgordon62 on 1/27/2008 & rated 91 points: Delightful nose of lemon oil, face powder and bread dough. The palate has a pleasing roundness that transitions to a crisp, juicy, mineral driven finish. Much better than the typical creamy, over-oaked CA chardonnay. (2500 views) | | Tasted by nomadfromcincy on 12/7/2007: Wonderful lemon aroma with layers of creaminess underneath; when I took a sip, coconut and a good zing (acid) came through clearly. | Ceritas Producer websiteChardonnay The Chardonnay GrapeUSAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Sonoma CountyMendocino CountyRussian River Valley Russian River Valley Winegrowers Association | Wikipedia |
