Tasted by MICHVANZ on 4/19/2015 & rated 88 points: Excellent value for money! (7436 views)
Tasted by VoVo on 4/5/2015 & rated 86 points: Still pretty vibrant at almost 7 years old for such a low priced wine. Appreciate the complexity added by the mourvedre and cinsault. Not just another grenache / syrah blend. The wine looks ruby colored. The legs are medium. There is light sediment in the bottle. The body is medium. The wine has smooth texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has low acidity. (7420 views)
Tasted by JuliannaD on 1/24/2014 & rated 87 points: This is an amazing value. It's simple but has clean plum and raspberry flavor along with some spice. Still very enjoyable. (9963 views)
Tasted by MidLifeVices on 1/13/2014 & rated 88 points: I agree with the most recent review, rather than the previous ones. The wine drinks like a much more expensive wine. I did not find it light, but rather reserved in it's body and weight, witch I appreciated. Possibly a little one dimensional in it's flavour profile, otherwise I would have scored it higher. (9893 views)
Tasted by jpinsb on 2/4/2013 & rated 87 points: A wine equal to those several times its price and certainly as good as several of the other Perrin Rhones offered in higher ranges. Cranberry nose, currant fruit, long finish. (11628 views)
Tasted by tuxboxxer on 12/23/2012 & rated 88 points: The wine looks Ruby colored. The legs are Slow. The body is Light/Medium. The wine has Satin-like texture. The wine finishes Medium.
This is a very light, easy drinking wine.

Heavy on the Grenache - aka nice! (4149 views)
Tasted by JAMESMOBB on 11/21/2012 & rated 87 points: Pretty disappointing bottle, perhaps a little past its peak. Not nearly as powerful as the first time i had this wine with the Olivers, Lance Christensen, and the Castillons on our road trip to Salzburg, Austria to the Riedel glass factory. This wine was extremely powerful a few years ago but now is lacking in depth and only has a concise finish. Aromas of dark berries and cedar with a hint of dark chocolate on the palette. Slowly opening up now as it has been open for a couple of hours. (5718 views)
(3731 views)
Tasted by drtroppo on 5/7/2012: A delicious, simple wine, with predominant black cherry and some herbal notes. I rate it a solid 88. (4515 views)
Tasted by Harley1199 on 3/26/2012: Five years on, a clean yet simple Southern Rhone example.
Rapsberries and cherries on the nose.
Smoky palate, decent acidity and a short finish.

Con cinco años a sus espaldas, un ejemplo del Sur del Ródano.
En nariz frambuesas y cerezas.
Boca ahumada, acidez decente y de corto final. (5209 views)
Tasted by teamhams on 2/13/2012 & rated 85 points: Raspberry notes with chocolate, strawberry, black cherry and kale. Medium bodied. A medium finish. (3725 views)
Tasted by bouchase on 11/4/2011 & rated 78 points: Tres moyen...moins satisfaisait que d'habitude. (4517 views)
Tasted by Anthony Lombardi on 10/28/2011: This is a great surprise. Dark maroon. Opulent nose showing dried herbs and raspberry. Full bodied Grenache blend with excellent intensity. More black and red fruit, some black pepper and more spiciness on the palate. Wonderfully layered and textured. This develops a beautiful anise note on the back of the palate that persists through the lenghty finish.

A QPR of the year contender. (4376 views)
Tasted by AHolland on 9/20/2011: Great price for value. (4559 views)
Tasted by aagrawal on 9/17/2011 & rated 87 points: Fantastic red cranberry, raspberry, strawberry; spice, grenache-like, palate ready; structured, flavorful, very good. 87 (4500 views)
Tasted by brettf1 on 7/24/2011 & rated 88 points: Better than the last one. See previous note. (5221 views)
Tasted by theRealPepe on 7/16/2011: Very pleasant Cotes du Rhone. Mild Kirsch, licorice and garrigue. Finish has improved over the years. Very good. (4939 views)
Tasted by bwillia on 5/16/2011 & rated 90 points: Much better than the last bottle. This is settling down nicely. (5696 views)
Tasted by jayflan on 4/28/2011 & rated 89 points: After letting the wine sit to breath, a bold yet light and fruity taste persisted. Very pleasing to the nose with hints of peach, sweet coffee, and raspberry. Just give it time to breath or aerate. . (1674 views)
Tasted by Itscatkin on 2/27/2011 & rated 84 points: Very nice smooth red with full body was excellent with a bolognese (6152 views)
Tasted by malbayspirit on 2/12/2011 & rated 88 points: This is a great wine. (6116 views)
Tasted by AngelicWines on 1/14/2011 & rated 87 points: 50+5+11+14+7 = 87. Inviting deep reddish purple hue. Roasted nose of barnyard and tart cherry. Very dry and simple CDR with tart cherry flavour and mild tannins. Opened up nicely over a few hours so I recommend letting it decant for a while first. Great QPR. (6398 views)
Tasted by grengar on 12/31/2010 & rated 86 points: Pleasant taste though I expected a bit more depth. Had to run off after a quick first glass - suspect with a bit of airing it may have been better. (6519 views)
Tasted by Jason Rzutkiewicz on 12/30/2010: No formal notes as I had this one with company but this has long been a go to wine for me and it has yet to disappoint... (6781 views)
Tasted by mado on 12/22/2010: delicieux avec gnocchi, avec Dom et Joéee (6785 views)

(Perrin Côtes du Rhône Réserve) With so many lovely 2007s coming from the Southern Rhône, it’s not surprising to find an outstanding wine in this price range from the Perrin family of Château de Beaucastel. Definitely a candidate for house red wine in any operation, it contains 60% Grenache, with Syrah and Mourvèdre making up the rest of the blend. Gracious, ripe dark and red fruits are combined with a medium body and an unexpected complexity. Hot Picks

13% alcohol

* The vineyard: Perrin Réserve Rouge is sourced in our own vineyards of Grand Prébois (40 hectares/99 acres) and Vinsobres (45 hectares/111 acres), as well as from vineyards that we lease under long-term contracts. All these plots are managed and supervised by the Beaucastel team.
* Geology: Within the Grand Prébois vineyard, and the adjacent leased land, the soils are of limestone clay and gravelly clay. At Vinsobres we have terraces that are rich in quartz and limestone marl.
* Grape varieties: 60% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 20% Mourvèdre.
* Winemaking: In our own Perrin&Fils winery. De-stemming, with temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless-steel tanks of 150 hectolitres and an otherwise traditional process.
* Maturing: Mainly in tanks, with 25% in casks, for 12 months. Bottling in December, after fining using egg white.
* Tasting notes: A beautiful deep red hue that seems almost opaque. The nose shows caramel and spices that mingle with red berry fruit. The palate is full and deep, with fine tannins and good length.
* Appearance: Deep ruby with violet hues. Nose: Still a little milk, the nose shows intense aromas of candied red fruit, raspberry jam, spice, black pepper. Taste: supple, round, structured with fresh
* Serving: Served at 18°C (64°F) with beef, lamb, poultry with sauce, grilled meat. Perfect match: lamb curry with orange peel and roasted red peppers.

Red Rhone Blend

Read about the different grapes used to produce red and white Rhone wines
On CellarTracker, Red Rhone Blend is the term for a wine consisting of two or more of the traditional 13 Southern Rhone grape varieties. Typically it's the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre or Cinsault grapes, but can also contain the Muscardin, Counoise, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Picpoul, Roussanne, Terret Noir, Picardan or Vaccarese grapes.

A 'food' wine. Lacking pretension and intended for local consumption with local cuisine. Lacks the 'high' notes on a Bordeaux, more earthy and sharper so often a better partner to meat dishes with a sauce.
